could i put a little bigger carb on the stock fifty motor to give it more power?



i dont know what the stock carb size is but i was thinking of slapping on a 16 mm carb on there, would that be good :?:

the stock sized is around 12 i think, but I put a xr70 carb on my stock unit with a cam and ported the head and wow and good difference in power. smoked all my stock friends.

stock carb is 13mm. If you put a 17mm(xr70) or somewhere round that on it would give a little more power, but u should also get a cam and stuff

IMO; it will be impossible to jet propery for the stock displacement.

my friend called 3 places and they said on a stock motor the stock carb is biggest u need

5-0 and ridered, believe it or not IT WORKS, very well too. like CMaDillac said, much faster than stock. though i also recomend some head porting and a cam.

Five0, jetting is never impossible, with enough paitence you can eventually get it spot on.

find a small enough jet for it to run right. ive never looked into it though.

The porting would be a good thing to have even later on if he decided to go big bore. And a Cam certainly never hurts. Not that hard to do, you can port a head in about a hour or so, once you get it apart, and the cam is always simple.
