Seems to relate to real short pistons on long stroke motors, or something?



edit: I meant to post this in the Chinese/import section, where I see this mentioned. Don't know what I did to have it end up here; sorry!

SCUT = S-CUT = Skirt CUT :)



Piston has no skirt on it either so it's very short. It's short enough that none of the piston is pulled into the cases at the bottom of the stroke. That way you can run a much bigger bore without any machining to the cases.

Now, does that translate into accelerated wear from the piston rocking in the bore, or the bore creeping around on the base gasket and throwing things out of alignment, or anything? Is it like "get a whole bunch of displacement with the knowledge that it's going to wear real quick," or do they hold up pretty well? Where do you get scut kit stuff?
