I posted a wanted add in craigslist, and this guy calls saying he has a clean 96 that he hasn't rode for a year. Tells me it has a unknown carb, pipe and handlebars, and that a bunch of guys at his work owned them at one time.

All the rest is stock he says, nothing done to the case. I don't usually buy things that are not working, but it does look clean and he swears all it needs is a carb tune up (he says he don't mess with carbs himself). So we agreed on $500, and I take a look at it after work tomorrow. Question, does anyone recognize the after-market brand of carb from the pictures attached? If so, what is it and is it any good? Anything else you can tell me from the pics... He don't have the original carb or pipe, which is a bummer, but it still seems like a good deal. Hope it works out!

Yep, he says the engine is all stock. I guess I better make sure the engine is genuine Honda, and not a knock-off, when I look at it - how can I tell?

He says it ran awesome ever since he bought it modified, as it still is. Could running a bigger carb do any damage, besides running a bit rich?

Thanks!

Well, wish me luck. I guess if the carb is too big and it don't want to run, then I either buy a stock carb or get a bore kit. Guess which way I'm leaning! I do have a 82 z50 in the garage (borrowed), so at least I'll be able to ride it after a quick carb swap.

I would pay 500 for it.I like Z-50s better than the XR/CRF'S.

If these pics were taken at the owners house I would try to talk him down more, judging by the cars in the back ground he has plenty of money..LOL
