Howdy all, tried using the search function and couldn’t find enough info.
My question is, at what point is the Kickstarter unreliable on a modified XR100?

I have been racing a pretty mild xr100 engine for a few years with no kickstart problems. I decided to pull the trigger on a Takegawa 120cc kit with a superhead r for our upcoming season of racing. I believe it’s around 12.5:1 compression. Will this setup be okay to kick over? Or should I plan on push starting it?
Are there any aftermarket stronger gears on the market for these engines? What about cryo and shot peening treatment? Any significant improvement in reliability? Anyone ever machined a compression release into one of these heads?

Thanks!

There are plenty of 150 even 190 horizontal engines that are being kick started!
