broken steering stop

I just purchased a used Thumpstar with a aluminum perimeter frame and noticed that the steering stop tack welds are broken. How important is this stop. Should I have it tack welded before riding it?

You can ride no problem, just dont crash. As the stop prevents the forks or bars from smashing the tank & shrouds. but in the near future have it rewelded & beef it up a lil.
Does anybody know a good aluminum welder near Chino Hills, Ca?
I put a 65sx front end on my KLX110 and i still havnt put any stops in.. all it does is protects the bike from its self...

My triple clamp just bounces off the tank.. no biggy, some wear on the tank.. but works fine!
