I am thinking of putting the TB big bore kit with race head on my bike. My bike is not raced and is more of a "show bike" The engine is chrome and much of the bike, including the frame is powder coated. I know that the stock motor creates so little heat that the head and cylinder could easily be powder coated.



I would like to powder coat the new head and cylinder before I install them. Do you think the big bore engine develops too much heat in the head and cylinder area to allow for powder coating??

I believe the powder coating will just melt, since it is a plastic base. You would to use a high heat resistant paint to paint them. There are several different automotive hi-temp paints. You may want to look into different coatings like a jet hot coating however make sure what ever coating you get does not trap the heat on the engine.

Nope it won't. I powdercoated a head and cylinder and rode it for 6 months before I sold the bike. Never had a problem, except it's a bitch to keep clean.

Was it a big bore?? I know it would work on the stocker, but would be curious if it worked with the higher heat out put of a big bore.

Kitaco 88 kit w/polished and ported head, 20mm carb. Oh and High flow oil pump too.
