What do you guys run for pavement riding? I'm looking into getting street only or maybe some dual sport type tires. Most my buddies are running the hoop tires.

You have a ton of choices for 10 inch stree tires. Do searches for scooter tires.

I run Pirellis on my 50. The best tires in the world for road racing in a 10 inch size is Dunlop TT90GP's, but you have to import them from Japan, as in the US you can only get the 12 inch ones.

However, if you want the best tires that you can get in the US, look at Sava tires. You can purchase race-dedicated tires in the 10 inch size, no hoops. In fact, I wouldn't run a hoop tire on my bike.

Sava makes some killer tires, check them out.

No beef here. All of the bridgestone hoop tires are only J rated.

J rated is 62mph max.

Some of us need a better tire so we don't kill ourselves at high speeds. Bridgestone doesn't offer a 10 inch tire with a rating higher than 62mph.

Dunlop TT90 GP's are the top of the line, but are expensive after shipping from Japan. Thus the reason why I run Pirelli, and my next set of tires will be from Sava.

I'd suggest an L rated tire or better yet, a P rated tire.

for the price range the hoops are great.

your tire you pointe dout are great looking if you had a few variables. First a 100/90 works out to be just under 3.50 inches... way to big for a fifty. you would roll that tire so bad on the skinny stock rims...

The hoops for the price.. AND HOW MANY 50S GO FASTER THEN 60+ MPH??? not many

The tire is a proper size. 2.75 you cannot beat it. Not to mention under 30 bucks......

Im thinking if you want quality at a great price the hoop is without a doubt the way to go.

Let me preface my statement. The J rated 10 inch tires weren't right for my application. I run 3.5X10 tires on my 2003 Honda Monkey and have the proper rims to support it. I can run up to 4.00x10 without issues.

There is nothing wrong with the bridgestones, but when I'm buzzing along at 70+ mph, I want a tire rated for those speeds.

Sorry for the confusion.

got it, the only other tire that I have seen work on the 50s is Pirelli SL26. although it is a 3.00-10 it does work if your looking for a wider tire at a better price. but on my motard bike I can turn faster laps on the skinnier 2.75-10 b-stone hoops.

FYI- A J rated tire is rated a test speed of 62 MPH. this speed is optained over a period of time at maximum speed. Speeds reach in excesss of 100MPH for periods of time in excess of 24-48 hours before coming up with a tires speed rating.

It would be perfectly ok to run this tire at the 62MPH+ speed rating for race times..

ALthough I know your monkey may reach in excess of 100MPH..ive seen some fast boogers.

I have a 3.50x10 rear and 3.00x10 front Michelin S1. It is not a motard bike, but I really like it and they seem to stick really well. There are no problems with tire roll, but I agree that the stock rim is too narrow for it, needs to be at least 1/2"wider.

I have a set of Sava tires that I ordered to try out, but never installed. They have great compounds available... but the sidewall is huge! I cannot fit the 3.50x10 (only available size on the MC18) on my bike, it is probably an inch or more taller than my 3.50 Michelin! These are designed for scooter racing. They need to make 2.75s, 3.00s and something with a shorter sidewall and I would be all over them!

The Continental Zippy 1 is supposed to be great too... I have a set that I will be trying out to see how they work.
