So I have a 71 K2 Z50 , i have hooked wires up per wiring diagram, all stock harness . I do have after market stop tail and headlight. Problem is tail light is super bright and when I use a brake lever , light goes dim. Should be other way around. I checked the leads to each filament and switching the leads do not make a difference, I have check ground to frame and seems solid. Any thoughts ?

I had the same problem on a 69 with a reproduction taillight. I ran my own ground from the socket and that solved it after much wasted time.

I will give that a try , did you go from the socket to the frame mount or to the actual mini frame ?

If you have a old transformer from a radio, cordless phone, etc...that outputs 6-7.5 volts, you can use that to power up your lighting for testing.
