Better if you just drink the alcohol then put gas in your bike....Keeps mini bike riding fun, and you are not always blowing up and re tuning!

you'll have to retune the carburetor every time you ride... alki is not exactly the best fuel for messing around.

if i remember correctly, the jets are different to allow for use of alki, so no.

I ran methanol on a 70 headed 88 with a 20 mm carb, if you look on thumpertalk about 3 years ago in the history there is a bunch of information. I must agree, it is a pain in the ass, you have to drain the tank and the carb everytime you are finished riding, and thats if you get it tuned to run right, it is really finicky. A base point for any carb though is double the size of your main and pilot and then go to the richest needle you can find and start out there.

No, you cannot run gas through an alky carb; the bike will be WAY rich and will never run. And you must have one hell of an engine to use a 28mm carb to begin with.



Alcohol in the 50s is fun. They will keep pulling upstairs and will rev forever. No, you do not need to drain the system every day either if you want, you could even run top end lube, but it is not necessary. Alcohol is more forgiving then gasoline. That means that you dont have to have a perfect tune up and itll still make power and run decent, where as with gasoline, you better be very close to being spot on. Another benefit of alcohol is that it is very resistant to detonation, so, youll be able to run more compression and more timing. Also, another great benefit is that your engine will run cool. Youll see condensation on your intake in the middle of summer.



You need to be proficient in tuning though.

Ive done it on a couple bikes. My suggestion is to get a set of carb jet drill bits and start off very small, and keep going up slowly till it runs smoothly. Itll take awhile, but itll rock when you get it right.

check out this Tread "Running It On Methanol"!!!... It started some heat but he is currently running his bike on alcohol. There are some suggestions and opinions. Hope it helps!
