I was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for a semi quiet exhaust? I have a cheap $45 one from ebay (crf 50 pipe) on my atc with 88cc big bore kit and it is almost too loud for me. I really don't want to spend $160 on a piranha pipe just to have it be a little quieter. I need a pipe for my second trike and figured I would put the quieter pipe on the one I ride more often, and the louder one on the other trike. I was going to spend another $50 on an ebay crf 50 pipe again (i just bend them to fit perfectly) but I figured I would ask to see if anybody else has any experience with ebay pipes or can recommend me a way to keep the noise level down (I know thats hard with $50 pipes :D ) I debated just buying the Piranha can and putting it on the pipe I have, then buying another full pipe? who knows

The Piranha will likely not be quieter than what you have now (assuming you have a cheap ebay CRF muffler now) as the ID is quite large making it loud. I have 3 Spangler's pipes with 3 different mufflers (Piranha, Chinese, and the Two Brothers M6) and they are all loud IMO. The Two Brothers is the loudest by far with the largest outlet diameter (it's bolted to a cammed Piranha 150cc engine however) and the Chinese muffler is the quietest as the muffler outlet OD is the smallest. The Piranha muffler is right in the middle for sound but by no means is it neighbor friendly quiet like I think you want.

Since the 88cc is such a small engine your quietest option is a stock muffler with the baffle removed. It will flow enough air for an 88cc motor and still perform well. Anything else is just going to be loud. If you try another muffler look for a smaller outlet diameter as that seems to help with quieting the roar of your engine. You can also try a DB Dawg muffler insert to cut a few decibels front the exhaust volume but what it does is make the muffler exit a smaller dia, so its similar to putting the stock pipe back on.

Sounds good, let us know how you make out. I would love a quiet hi flow pipe/muffler for our little pit bike engines. Ironically my biggest and most powerful engine in my Honda 350x is also the quietest thing I own (next to the Lil Z50R ) as it is running the stock 30 yr old pipe and muffler on it. My little Honda based engines are easily twice as loud as my ATC 350X. Something just doesn't seem right with that.

I agree, way too much fun to leave stock! My 150cc Piranha engine with ported head, Z40 cam and higher compression really rips so I have decided to embrace the loud exhaust on that ATC 70. The bigger displacement engine and the Two Brothers exhaust sounds Amazing together. Deep throaty sound like a piped 450r. :) Just not neighborhood friendly is all.

Nothing besides short shifting around the house to keep RPMs and sound down until I get out of the neighborhood.
