Ok im in need of more power for my back yard track right now the 88 stock head set up just dont have the pull out of the tight corners on my track

i use to have a 88 Rstage set up and loved it but looked into the 95cc back then but no one had ever had one that i knew, so im looking for input

i know i could just throw a crank in it and have a 106 but i have never liked the way the power hits on 106 motors

i have two motors and so i can build one and still have the 88 in the bike

i also have the takegawa c.r gears that i need to install i know that 1st gear would help alot

right now i cant shift into 2nd the power just falls on its face on the tight track

motor spec right now

88cc

stock head Ports opened up to match intake and exhaust

takegawa cam

takegawa inner rotor

Horstman grim reaper clutch

stock pipe

20mm carb

14-37 gearing but the horstman clutch changes the gearing i think it makes it taller

honestly I would go to a 50mm crank to get closer to square... also the way the power delivery can be manipulated via head selection, ignition, etc. My r stage 106 with pe24 plus more bells and wistles screams from 5k to 12k!

I ran a 95 with TB rh and stock pipe. bike almost felt the same at the bottom but had way more torque in the mid and upper than an 88rh. motor screamed at the topend. I think swiching to a ported e22 head or a RH and dropping to a 13th cs sprocket would help out alot.

I had a takegawa superhead 95 setup and it was the best motor i had.

I ran it with a hd semi clutch and it ran very strong and revved to the moon.

Go for it, its a very strong setup with almost the reliability of the stock honda setup.

*I have burms but i will admit they need work, they dont flow that nice

im kinda hoping that the take CRgears will do the trick cos right now if i shift into second i loose my power pulling out the corners

*a crank would give me more torque but im not a big fan of the cranked motors, i like to keep my motor singing in the higher rpms, i had a 124+R stupid amount of power in such a small bike unless your racing big wide open tracks

*Im thinking 95cc with a Race head probably be looking at Tak Rstage

My clutch is the Grim reaper that combined with my tak inner rotor makes it a rev so nice

i know they say the reaper is for upto 88 but not looking to get the tak special clutch

i had one in my 124 there real nice but limited on $$$

*gonna work on the burms install the tak CR gears and see how that does but ill be looking for a used Rstage head ;)

i had a reaper on my 88 motor and a twisted the crank the first time, replaced the crank and then broke the gearbox so ditched the clutch for a superclutch.

i wouldnt recommend a reaper with anything bigger than a 50 motor.

okay...here is a silly question....and a thread jack....why is a engine that is square better????? I assume square is meaning like 54mm bore with 54mm stroke?

i dont mean to thread hijack either but I have always wondered this too

No worrys on the jacking;) its all motor related crap anyways

i cant see how it could be better having a 54x54 crank and piston, the bigger the motor the more power your going have have in theory so what would make having a "square" motor over err not so square? as long as everything is balanced and running in sync it should be fine!

ive had a tak +R124cc and it was insainly fast, too fast infact for the type of track i was riding (smaller tighter minicross tracks) i enedded up riding it at the local MX track

Anyways back onto my lack of power i found a nice little motor that was too good to pass up, little more power than i wanted but i can always put the 70 crank in

im now gonna be rolling a 106 tak +R i picked it up this evening its sitting on the kitchin table waiting to be stuffed into the fast50s chassie

changing stroke/bore ratio can change the whole powerband. a bigger bore to stroke ratio will be a more top end powerband. a bigger stroke to bore ratio will be a more torquey engine and not have the same top end. a square bore/stroke ratio is a good all around powerband.
