I also have a BBR ftp 88cc kit on my xr50. I have a stock TRX70 head I could put on it. I'm assuming all I would need is a high compression piston also right? How much improvement over the the stock 50 head would this be? And how much better is it just to go with a TB race head?
You need a different piston if you 88cc kit was originally for a stock 50 head. You will destroy the, piston, valves, and possibly the head and rod/crank due to valves hitting the top of the piston.
Yup. TB "old" race head was almost exactly the same as the 70 head. Sure, it will help to open the port to 20mm or so, but it will BURY a 50 headed one anyway.
