Are you trying to use the tbolt cable with the original thumb throttle? What length is the cable?
tmas
I'm using the cable that TboltUSA sent with the engine.. I don't have an OEM throttle so I'm using a spare banshee throttle that I had laying in the garage.. not exactly sure how long the cable is but it's supposedly for the carb that I bought with the motor kit.

I'm sure that engine is sold with the cable that works for the most common application, which is a motorcycle with a twist throttle.

If you can figure out what size your cable NEEDS to be, you can take it to a cycle shop and they can shorten it for you. Tell them where to cut, or, overall lengths, for both the inner, and outer, cables.

dratv.com will have all your trx70 needs. I want to say they even have a billet pull starter that you can get its $$$ pricey though. I have an 86 too dont have an engine in it so once you get it going let me know how much more fun it is having a 125 in their its going to be awesome. I've only had mine with a 88 kit on it. As for the throttle cable being too long, I would just loop it under the plastic and call it a day so you can get out there and ride it lol, a little extra length to a throttle cable never hurts anything to much unless your talking about the actual cable inside the casing that pulls on the carb slide. In that case dratv will have what you need, if your using the stock thumb throttle you def need the right one cuz the way it's designed it really does't pull the cable to much it has to be adjusted just right. I got one to work on a VM26 though but it was a ct90 stock length cable that I put on a 1987 Mojave atv. Got rid of the garbage vacuum carb and put the 26 on and have to say it run's pretty good even though its under carbed, since the motor has like no compression "its 31 years old never rebuilt needs rings" I think I could get away with a PE28 that I have to get a little more out of it but new piston rings cams and a port job is in store for it eventually just have to many projects.

I used one of the TB cables with the thumb throttle on my ATC70 which is basically the same set up. The cable has a bit of adjustment.

I've tried adjusting the cable as much as I can and it still has way too much play in it.. I may just put taller bars on it and see if it will work that way.. or like 50rifer340 said I'll look it around to shorten it.. lol

If the INNER cable is too long to operate the carb, taller bars wont help. If the inner cable is too long, the only fix is to shorten it, or get a new/different cable/throttle etc.

If the OUTER cable is too long, it would just look bad, and maybe get in the way...taller bars would help that.
