84' Z50R Stator

Assuming I'm talking about the correct part here. The stator is the thing that is wrapped in copper wire right? Have those been discontinued? I can't seem to find one. I can't find one for any year in that range for that matter. Any help?

Yup. Check dratv, they've got what you need.

also, check out cmsnl.com for parts fiches, helpful for identifying parts & numbers.
If that bike uses a 6V points ignition, I've got complete ignitions from a '74 Z50 and a '78 or '79 ATC70. I don't have time to check right now if those cross over, but maybe someone else here will know, and I'll check later tonight if I can. Not sure if the wheel and hub we discussed elsewhere are usable, but I definitely have more 6V points ignitions than I can use.

Edit: the Z50 engine VIN decoder lists a '84 Z50R as a 6V points engine. In a thread a few pages back, Z posted that there are three main crank styles in US-market bikes: 6V points 3-speeds, 6V points 4-speeds, and 12V CDI. So I'm assuming if your bike is 6V and points the setup I have will work. Are you missing the entire plate, coils, points, flywheel? Or just some of it?

Not sure? It looks different than that on my 74'. It only has 1 stator, not 2.
See improved, edited version of my above post. I think you're talking about the lighting coil, which was present on early Zs since they had lights. I think the later ones without lights had a coil to generate ignition current but not one to generate lighting current. Thus the one vs. two coil configuration.
Not missing any of it, but it all needs to be replaced other than the plate. So are you saying 1 stator from my 74' will work and just get the new points and condenser? Sorry, I'm a photographer not a mechanic so all this is greek to me.
You can use any of the early Z50 stators on your '84 engine, it will work just fine, and you get the bonus of having a lighting coil for night riding. Very easy to hook up, I did it a while ago on a Heinz 57 mutt bike I put together from extra parts. The headlight was from a DRZ350, and I wired it up directly from the stator. It was dim at idle, but real bright when you were WFO...

Hey Loud,

I shot dratv an email and he replied back saying he was 90% sure this would work *PRIMARY CIRCUIT THREE SPEED AUTOS Z50_CT70 (PRICOL)

What do you think?
Yup, that looks like what you want. Tmas' ebay link looks good too. Same money, less skin lost.

Honda Trail Bikes

I'd be buying the above and merely not hooking up the lighting coil.
