Hi there !
I just bought a 2006 TTR50, it was running fine, I only changed the throttle cable and now, unable to start it.
Here is what I already checked :
  • spark ok, spark out and grounded to top end > spark ok
  • fresh gas, full tank, gas going to the carb ok
  • carb fully cleaned and float level parallel to the carb base
  • air filter ok, no oil no water in it
  • battery and starter ok
  • no gear engaged
  • small gold screw with contactor on top of the carb was rusty, all cleaned
  • mix air/gas ok, the bike was running ok before
  • Oil level ok, oil color ok (no water in it)
I have no other idea, could you please help me to start this bike ?
Thanks in advance !

What did you have to remove to put the cable on? Im sure you already did this but just double check everything is installed. Verify gas in the carb bowl, Intake clamps. I have put new throttle cables on and had the adjustments it comes with too tight to the point it was lifting the slide up which in a cold start scenario might keep it from starting?

Thanks for the updates guys !
I already double-checked and cleaned all the connections on top of the carb and check the cable tension.
By the way, do you know the roles of the two connectors on top of the carb ?
Run position is ok as I have spark ;)
I think it can be related to a valve which stayed open maybe, or needs to be adjusted...

Glad to hear you got it started. Those connectors at the top of the carb are a heater i believe to make cold starts a little easier.

Hey, little trick I just used, drill a small hole in the airbox just big enough to fit a small straw/red tube of the motor starting fluid spray.
So you don't have to open the air box in case you need to use a little bit of spray to help the motor to cold start.
