Hi,
I just joined the forum and this looks like the best place for pit bike support.
Im going to buy a KLX 110 on CL for 500 and the guy says the bike is in good
shape but it smokes. I was wondering what could cause that issue and whether
its a cheap fix. Its a stock bike so no engine mods. Is the smoking even going
to damage the engine because it seems that extra oil burning couldn't hurt it
but even lubricate the engine more? He had the oil changed recently by a
motosports mechanic so I doubt its overfilled, I read that it could be the piston
rings or valve seals. Should I pull the trigger on the bike? I also found an 05
CRF 50 and Its in great shape and the guy wants 570. Which should I buy?

Get the klx. Good deal, & nothing a quick top end rebuild kit can't fix. Then smoking should go away. You'll be pleased you got the klx later on when you get into more mods for the size.

It also looks like it already has a few mods;
Two Brothers over-the-top brake pedal ($80)
Two Brothers kickstarter ($95)
Two Bros pegs ($100)
Pro taper bars ($70)
Two bros tall seat ($95)
and some shifter.

That's a two brothers shifter they are silver for the 02-04 bikes and black for the 05+

Looks like a nice bike for the price. I bet a quick set of rings would fix it too

Might be worth it because of the few goodies but 2002 bottom ends are different than 2003+ and had their share of problems.
