  1. TBparts 88cc oil o-ring question

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
I used a 5/64 which is the standard equivalent. I actually didn't even use a drill. Just applied some pressure with a hex shank drill bit by hand. Only took a min, and didn't have to worry about breaking the bit. Like so https://www.craftsman.com/products/5-64-in-hex-shank-titanium-drill-bits-2-pk
  2. TBparts 88cc oil o-ring question

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
Head isn't installed yet, but the oil pump was an easy install. Just had to remove the stator to gain access to the oil pump gear. Kept it from spinning and backed the oil pump drive shaft out. My only advice would be to inspect the oil pump closely. After some inspection there was a thin...
  3. TBparts 88cc oil o-ring question

Please disregard. I’m an idiot. The headgasket is still on the factory cylinder. It looked just like metal surface.
  4. TBparts 88cc oil o-ring question

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
I just received my TBparts 88cc race head kit and took everything out of the box to inspect. Looking at the new cylinder there appears to be some differences. Why would the 2 oil o-ring Surfaces not be the same size? Does the TBparts cylinder not received the same amount of sealing o-rings? What...
  5. Z50a Extended Swingarm +5cm

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
Preventec47 how have those shock extensions been working out for you. Got the swingarm back, and even with 280mm shocks and 1.5” swingarm extension I think it needs more height. Thinking of getting those shock extenders! 280mm shocks w/ 1.5” swingarm extension with 1” more height on the shocks

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
Getting ready to pull the trigger on the tbparts 88cc kit w/ Shengway carb for my 72 z50a. I wasn't planning on buying the race head kit, because i've rebuilt my factory head and it's in fantastic shape. While browsing DrATV I notice a performance cam w/ roller bearing and some upgraded valve...
  8. Z50A HD Clutch Spring Question

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
I emailed Dr ATV about the springs on his website. He says they fit 91 and older z50. Doesn’t exactly match the parts fiche you mention, but I suppose I’ll give them a try. http://dratv.com/heavdutcluts.html

  10. Z50A HD Clutch Spring Question

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
I suppose that would explain why they don't fit. At the time I didn't specify what year my bike was.

  12. Z50A HD Clutch Spring Question

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
I've ordered my tbparts 88cc kit and have begun the teardown process. I've currently got my factory auto clutch apart and planned to replace with some HD clutch springs. I had ordered some that claimed to fit z50, crf50, xr50, but the I.D. is to small when I went to install them. Every website...
  13. KO-78 Big Bore 88cc -- Throttle cable options

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
Just wondering if anyone has successfully re-used the stock throttle cable with a tbparts 88cc kit with shengway carburetor? I would really like to keep the stock look with the internal throttle cable. If it's unavoidable, which throttle tube have people used with the shengway carb and cable?

  15. K1 K2 Handlebars vs K3~78

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
Looking at pictures between the early K1, K2 vs the later K3's, the handlebars appear to have a different height and pullback. I know the K1, K2 have the extra brake perch, but aside from that would they bolt on the K3~78 without any modifications for a more comfortable position? Anyone done...
  16. Z50a Extended Swingarm +5cm

    Z50, CT70 and JDM Monkeybikes
Looking for some feedback on an extended swingarm on my 1972 z50a. I just upgraded the fronts with delrin bushings and HD springs. For the rear I have some TBparts 280mm rear shocks. I’ve been looking at the minimoto +5cm(2in) rear swingarm to try and center the rear wheel better. Has anyone run...
