Tubless set up CHEAAAAAP

So here's what happen. I decided to learn some circle donuts killed my tire and needed to change it. When i was taking off the old tire i wrecked the tube. Im not the best at saving them in the process of a tire change. So i decided that i was ganna make a tubless setup. This is what we did. I mounted half of the new tire on the rim. Filled it with tennis balls (16 total) then forced everything into the rim. Do to the added width created by the tennis balls we had to cut the bead in one spot to get the tire mounted. After everything was built we went for a ride. It was chopy at first but after a few wide open runs it smoothed out quite nicely. Has any one else ever done anything like this before.

Re: Tubless set up CHEAAAAAP

Yea im ganna ride it untill something dies. Im curious as to how long the tennis balls will hold up. I have about an 1.5 hr ride time so far. Mostly trails and some road. It felt pretty smooth when doing 3rd gear wheelies too

Re: Tubless set up CHEAAAAAP

I'm going to try that sometime.

Good idea. Now you can sell balls that go into your tire for $75.

Did you get the tire warm/hot before you mounted it?

Re: Tubless set up CHEAAAAAP

I bet lacrosse balls would work good because they are solid but have some bounce
