TB manual clutch question

Is the clutch actuator ("top hat") supposed to fit loosely into the clutch cover? Mine was so tight that I had to tap it in. I'm assuming that it should move freely.(which it doesnt now) Any help would be nice.

Re: TB manual clutch question

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be loose. Mine was loose and could easily slide, but still had a pretty close fit. I had to use grease to keep it in the cover when I installed the cover back onto the engine.

Did you notice any burrs on the "top hat" or in the hole?

Try taking emory paper and sanding down the shaft of the top hat if returning it is not an option. You might only need to remove a little to get it to work.

Also, make sure the little pin that holds the clutch actuator shaft is in the cover and holds the clutch actuator (the spring loaded shaft) from falling out. mine fell out and I replaced it with a threaded button head socket cap screw to keep the clutch actuator shaft from pulling out.

Re: TB manual clutch question

Thanks, I'll sand it a little. I was wondering where that little pin came from also.
