you can pretty much use anything.

Everyone that runs a cut cover is missing one bolt hole; I don't see why anything would be different in your case.

Re: Polish & Cutting Ign. Cover

i still retain all my bolt holes. you just need a drill and small bit, simply drill holes close to each a=other across the proximaty and smack it off then sand smooth

Re: Polish & Cutting Ign. Cover

Yesterday I hit up walmart, spent $148 on cleaning and polishing stuff. Today I just used mothers mag aluminum polisher for the wheels and cam cover. I also used the aircraft cleaner on the cam cover. I did what the directions said, to buff the moms mag after applying it and all that good stuff. Anyone have anyother points?

Before

After

Re: Polish & Cutting Ign. Cover

I used to polish everything by hand with the Mothers Aluminum polish. Thank god I was sponsored by Mothers or else I would have been paying what you did at Walmart.

After all these years of late night polishing by finger, I finally got smart and purchased a polishing buffer on a stand. Picked up some of the 6-step polishing compounds and now all my work turns out to a mirror finish.
I'm not sure what you purchased for a $148, but you can definitely get yourself a cheap buffer and a set of buffing wheels for $40 +-, and some polishing compounds for a lot less than what you spent.

Here is a motor I did.

Re: Polish & Cutting Ign. Cover

Well with the $148 I bought some drinks a lot of sandpaper also. My head cap is already chromed out, so I don't need to do that. I thought my wheels cleaned up real well, but they're kind of smoggy if you look close. I want to get rid of that haha.. How do I do that?

Re: Polish & Cutting Ign. Cover

I actually cut mine this morning and spent most of the day sanding, will probably finish it up tomorrow. A dremel does wonders haha.

Finished it today. It actually looks pretty cool. The flash from the camera makes the scratches look way deeper then they actually are.
