| Carb choice for 88cc race motor I just completed an 88cc build on 04CRF 50 motor, using Trail bikes 88cc cylinder kit. I ran 1 race using the stock head and intake/carb set-up. I got great torque, but top-end was about the same. A local racer is getting out of minis, and I bought his Trailbikes race head, and BBR exhaust. I also got a Keihn 20mm carb, and Mikuni 24mm carb. My question. for the Trailbikes 88 piston, ported/polished race head, and BBR exhaust, which carb is the better choice...the 20mm Keihn or the 24mm Mikuni? Thanks in advance, Dan da man |

"Pimpindahoes" You recommend using the 24 with the race head. Bear in mind this could be a knock-off mikuni, what jetting do you recommend? This question is also aimed at anyone in the know.

ive been building motors since 2003. 24mm on a 88cc race head is the ONLY way to go if you want the most bottom end and top end power..... PERIOD not sure on the jetting. if you can describe very well what the bike does and at what throttle position then i can troubleshoot with you and steer you in the right direction. trial and error.

| Re: Carb choice for 88cc race motor I'd sell both carbs and buy a real 24mm round bore Mik or Keihin, provided the head was actually ported and not just shined up. The TB head leaves plenty to be desired, as far as port design goes. |

| Re: Carb choice for 88cc race motor I test ran the 20mm today, and it runs great at top end. Idle is good. Just off idle it stumbles a little if I rap the throttle quickly. Mid range is good, but again if I rap it open from there, it stumbles slightly. Sometimes coming to a stop quicly kills it. Correct me if I'm wrong, If it's good at top end, the main is ok. The stmble low and mid needs the needle raised. Dieing after stoping quick from high rpm..I don't know... I will try the 24mm sometime this coming week, for comparison. I don't think it can hurt. |

| Re: Carb choice for 88cc race motor Find a 22 keihen and I would put money on it being the best from bottom to top end power.I've ran them all and only need a 24mm on my superhead 115 and trailbikes 117 and trust me they are plenty big. |
