build a dreambike... and then sell it Why are there always dreambikes being built, and then almost immediately parted out? I built my bike. It's anything but a dream bike. Not top of the line. But it's hella fun and I have no plans of selling. My wife has a almost bone stock crf50... just big bars and seat. I love riding it also. So are people just getting buy happy, and caught up in the frenzy of building the dream 50, and then not enjoying the bike? example: It's seems like 9months ago everybody just had to have a set of marazochi (spelling) forks. They were the ****! If you didn't have them you were riding on substandard garbage... Now there are a lot of people selling them for half of what they paid for them. Honestly.... whats the deal?

Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it some people just have deeper pockets than others. so selling $1000 at half the price a month later isn't going to hurt them much. just means better deals for the rest of us imo

Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it well, my case with a "dream bike" currently for sale is that I'm not riding it enough. My wife and I just signed a lease for a lot on a private ski lake too, so we're going to need to buy an rv, along with a wakeboarding boat. We'll also need to build a deck, pier and gazebo, so it's not likely that I'll have much time to ride my built up CRF50. I also have another bike, so it's not like I'm giving up on my minis, it's just that my priorities have changed for now. Although if my bike does sell for a "decent" price then I have no problem hanging on to it. I can always throw on a Baja Designs light kit and some street tires, and just stamp the numbers from my plated Lifan frame into the Fast50s frame and ride it on the streets. That's why I'm not too anxious to sell it. That's my excuse, but I'm not sure why everyone else it selling.

Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it I'm selling my "dream bike" in 2 weeks after I do 1 once with it. I only built it, to top my brothers bike, now that I did I don't need it

| Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it Well, I'm actually quite the opposite. I hate selling things because I know the sacrifices I went thru to abtain that object. I still have my 93 honda civic, it was my first adult toy despite the ridicule that I have encountered over the years. Its more valuable to me now than it was years ago. | Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it My problem is I build them and keep them! My collection is over 20 now. Hate to part with them after all the time and $ spent. Need to keep busy with other peoples dreams and not my own builds.! LOL!

And I thought I had alot of minis . Now I don't feel so bad !!! I never thought I could every part with any of my builds but ..., until recently , I sold / traded one of them for another build I'm currently stress'n over . I hated to let it go , but I had to convince myself that it was for the better . Ya see ..., not one of my builds never ever just seem to bolt right up together . I always end up spending waaay more time , energy and cash try'n to make em perfect in every way possable , so I hate to just let them go . Even with the bikes I think are my finished builds , I'm always tweek'n em try'n to make them better than I thought they were .

Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it Yeah i think for alot of us (myself included) we just like to see how badass of a bike we can build, once its done and we ride it a few times, i want to start over again!! i don't because of money but i like to go with a new color scheme every winter, keeps its fresh and gives me something to do, i have just as much building bikes as riding them!

Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it i agree with someone up ther, it is as fun to build them as it is to ride. and thers just something about building something and thenriding it thats very satisfying you know. but its kinda like parting with a child or something haha at least the first bike anyways

Re: build a dreambike... and then sell it I think alot of people just dont realise that simple is more fun, when you can't have what you want you really enjoy what you have more, when people build the best bike possible they forget what the fun of 50's is really about. Plus for people who have more fun buying stuff than riding theres no where to go after you buy everything, so they sell it. Ovcourse thats not everyone with a built up bike, you might race and need somthing good to compete on, but the people who just ride thier closer to stock 50's for fun are the people who really understand 50's. If you wanna go fast just ride big bikes. Last edited by Flarry; 08-08-2008 at 09:40 PM.
