Marshfield photos?

Hey Guys,

I've had a few inquiries about photos from Marshfield and I've seen a few grumblings on here about the lack there of.

Marshfield was a bit of a departure from the norm for me and my plans of shooting the event. Usually I shoot pics for you guys to purchase... or not. Like it or not, pitbike racing is dying in the US. Our MoM series needs all the help it can get. My goal at Marshfield was to make the series look good on the TWMX site for the people that weren't there, namely sponsors, advertisers, the TWMX staff, etc. The series sponsors need to see an event that looks good, draws a crowd, has good racing action, etc. So far the race has been on the first page of the "features" on TWMX.com, that's pretty damn good for a little pitbike race at a county fair in some podunk town! Maybe one of the reasons that our series is going strong is that it gets such good coverage between Robb Swaitek and me. There were comments about more racing an fewer girl shots on the gallery. That's from you guys, but I'm sure the rest of the country isn't really interested in shots of you. They want to see what goes on there, how big the event is, what the track looks like, and well... chicks. I don't think anyone can say that having 30 second girls at the race is a bad thing. Anything that gets outsiders to look through our gallery on the site is a good thing.

I'll probably be back to my normal gig at Rocky Hill. Please remember though, I shoot photos for people to buy, not for the heck of it. I have thousands and thousands of dollars of equipment at the races that has to pay for itself. I've had people email me all pissed off that they can't download my photos for free! If you're one that never buys photos from me, please don't rip me online because I haven't posted the normal hundreds of photos. I know who buys them and who doesn't. The guys that buy them get more attention from me when I'm shooting. It's basic business. It's the same with Buckley, Scavo, Cudby, etc.

I'm obviously not at the MoM events to get rich, but I don't like to lose money shooting them. I'm there mostly to help Dave promote the series and bring some added value. I'm the only one of Dave's "staff" that isn't paid by him so I have to pay my bills somehow and that's through selling photos.

I do really enjoy shooting, hanging with you guys, and sometimes racing. Please don't think that I don't.

Matt
