How serious is the Cycles128 Supermoto Round?

Hey guys, this is my first year doing the MOM series and plan to do all 4 rounds but have never done supermoto before. Would I really need to lace up a 12" front wheel and do all that stuff or would a 14" front be good enough. I'm leaning toward the 14" option since I have 2 bikes (12" rockstar and Limited) that would be cheaper then lacing up 2 12" front wheels.

i would go with 12" wheels if you want to run up front. there aren't any good 14" tires.

Run a 14" front, you'll be fine. The Cycles 128 round is more of a MX on pavement track now than anything resembling a SM or GP style race. Ride point and shoot style, spin the rear when you can, and you'll never be running lean angles or sweepers that'll ask much of the front.

yea i was gonna say the track is more of foot out and hope you dont slide out track with some fairly slow sections. No knee out sweepers, but for mx guys like us its mad fun.

Re: How serious is the Cycles128 Supermoto Round?

plus its pretty tough to find a good 14"fr.tire to fit on the rim properly.smallest thing we found last year was just too wide for the rim(stock width) not sure what it was right now, bike is at the shop and not sure if tire is still around...

Michelin Pilot Sport SC 120/70R14. Fits between the forks on stock KLX110s with stock rims, gets the job done if riding MX style.

but is way wrong size for the stock rim width!! be safe. 120/ is for a rim 2.75" wide.

Given the results we've had, and many others road racing them... on a KLX110 I have no problems suggesting that tire. On a CRF70 being ridden on swpeeing tracks knee down, now I'm going to suggest something else, but the Pilot Sport SC has proven itself in this app.

Technically... unless you've got a set of NSR50 rims... none of us are running our tires in any way shape or form how they were intended. : ) (And I've got the same issue with my GS500E, ever try to find race rubber rated for a 3.5" wide rear wheel?)

Is it required to run supermoto tires?

He's not ask'n if he can run mx tires ..

Although I did see a couple people run them there before .
For the most part they were able to keep it up right , but look'd very out of control most of the time .
I always felt when I tried to go around em , that if they mess'd up bad enough at the wrong time , I would be go'n down with em .

Re: How serious is the Cycles128 Supermoto Round?

I know he wasn't asking, I was because I've never done the supermoto round before. Buying a set of tires for just one round isnt exactly easy on the wallet.

Thank youu

Red face Ooops ... I see that now !!

Sorry ..

I personally think it would be a hazard not only to yourself but to others if you didn't run some sort of street tire !!

There are cheap ones out there . But you can use them for at least a couple of years and maybe more if you store them properly .

Down hill right turn

Enter the building

Out the other side
