| Re: bike failure at rockyhill I saw at least 4 guys that had cracked Sparkplug caps Never ever put Duct tape on a cracked cap...Duct tape is a very good electrical conductor Use Electrical tape...then spend the $2.00 and get a new Cap... if some of you guys haven't done so lately un-screw your cap and just take off a bit of the wire and re-screw it back on and check for chaffed wires cause a short |

In a pinch it'll work, as a good duct tape is waterproof as per it's original design. Duct tape was designed by/for the military as a need for a waterproof tape in the 50s(?). Electical tape in a pinch like this is better but doesn't stick as well. WD-40 is a better choice if water is the culprit. WD stands for "water displacement". You'll probably have to apply it every moto and for the love of god, be careful until the evaporates dry, lest a fire be in your future! Either way, don't use duct tape as an electrical tape, the tape it porus enough that electricty can go through the tape if provoked enough. | |
