sprockets Newbie here, So I'll start with hello to all. I hope I'm in the right section to post this. My seven year old boy started up in moto cross a couple of weeks ago and is absolutely hooked. Were trying to run the beginner stock class for the rest of this season, but he would really like some more power. Doesn't look to me like they will let you do much of anything on these ttr's. I was thinking about gearing it down a little with sprockets and was wondering if anybody has played with this and could stear me in the right direction. For the tracks he's raced it seems as though first gear is useless and third is to tall. I think he's light enough to start out in second and not lose much out of the blocks and with gearing it down a little it could only help. From what the dealership could tell me, which was very little, except to buy some sprockets at $55.00 dollars a piece and play with it. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Randy in Iowa.

Re: sprockets Im guessing its a TTR 50 right?? Sprockets won't really do much for power since the engine is so small, you'll probably hardly feel the diff. If you're willing to spend the money, this should do you're son some good: Click the links to view KEIHIN PC18 Big Bore Carburetor Kit for TT-R50 - Two Brothers Racing - Pit Bike Parts CHP Performance Cam for TT-R50 - Classic Honda - Pit Bike Parts CHP New Ultima Jr. Pipe for TTR-50 - FREE SHIPPING This setup will bump up the bike to just about twice its stock power. Your son will enjoy this. Last edited by SUZUKIRM12594; 07-18-2008 at 03:36 PM.

Re: sprockets Thanks for responding guys. I don't think I can do any of those suggestions and still run the stock class. AMA rules say stock pipes only, and I think a big bore kit would be a little to obvious. I think his ttr is competetive with the other 4 strokes in his class he just wants a little more. I was hoping for some ideas that were within the AMA guidelines, or something they wouldn't notice, and the only thing I could think of was some gearing changes with sprockets. I think with what you guys said the sprocket deal would be a waste of money. Any other ideas?

Re: sprockets try dropping the rear sprocket 2 teeth, that should give him a good bit more pull in 2nd without totally sacrificing bottom end. this is in the wrong section by the way, hence very few responses, try posting it here Yamaha TTR50 - Planet Minis
