SO how do you claim "my bike is PERFECTLY tuned"???

Just from reading other threads here and people claiming "MY bike IS PERFECTLY tuned"...

Some say "Tuned perfectly..." but the say "Tuned perfectly to burn 100% clean on the plug without residue..."

1. You CAN NOT tune a bike 'perfectly' by the color of the plug... ESPECIALLY a thumper! You can tell too rich or too lean but the area between that is way too big to say "perfect".

So if you do tune your bike that way and it IS perfect please inform us all on how its done so it will make our life much easier!

Also please post you "techniques".

And Im not picking on an particular person just bringing up an example.

Re: SO how do you claim "my bike is PERFECTLY tuned"???

Mine is perfectly tuned when it runs the way I want it to.

If (IMO) it revs cleanly all the way up its good for me.

I agree with ya though.

" Tuned " is pretty open in theory, mx set up would be tuned way different than a woods set up, but whos to say one is " tuned " better than the other ?

Ah who cares if it runs good ride it.

i say mine is perfectly tuned when it starts and runs decent enough to get me through a day of riding without any trouble.

IMO i like my two strokes tuned extra lean. it allows me to ride the same distance as the thumpers without running out of gas.

I like your theory!! I might try dropping down from a 420 main to a 350 for the long sand rides.... Maybe I wont have to go back to the truck and refuel now! Along with that I might remove the air filter since everyone knows how big of a restriction that is... actually I will just take the air off the bike completely!

There is no such thing as perfectly tuned with carbs.

lolsssss... honestly though with four strokes i usually jet so it starts first kick. is crisp through the full range and DOESNT make my header glow. i usually will stay a little fat just for protection but i feel i cant ride a 250f fto full potential anyways. with my two strokes I.E. jet ski and 250 i find alot has to do with the gas ratio. dune riding ill lean it out a bit but run a heavier mix ratio. track n trails ill go back to 40:1 and set it back to standar. i notice a huge power difference between 32:1 and 40:1 ratios but you gotta make sure not to burn it to straight

Stotiatic mix doesn't mean perfect jetting... some motors like to be a lil lean or a little rich in spots for best throttle response.

But an engine that runs at stoichiomeric 100% will blow up! Under load there would be way too much heat! 12:1 is usually about optimum at least under acceleration.
