Re: picked up a 250!

i had an 05...lots of shimming the valves until you cant shim no more then put the stainless valves in it and get the valve seats cut and they will last for ever...at least thats how my 05 was. now my friend has it and has had no problems.

Re: picked up a 250!

your one of the few then haha...i used to work at a shop here in town and i cant tell you how many we did...but nice bike none the less and my friend had a 04 or 05 and it also went two years before it had to shim valves...but after that once it happens more often and more until they need to be replaced...but nice bike

you must have been lucky. two 05 450's ive had burned the heads up (valve related failure) my first crf250 i woulld shim the valves at least every 2 rides. and now i just bought a cr250 to get rid of those pesky valves. i would say get some HD springs with some stainless valves and new seats and youll be much happier. heck my riding partner bought a brand new 07 250f and we cant go one ride without adjusting valves. already has a whole new head to boot!
