| painting a klx110 question What parts on a bike should not be painted? I'm not talking about looks as a reason. I mean what parts are not good to paint because it will hurt the bike's performance? Are there parts on the engine for example? Obviously parts of the forks? This question goes for powder coating and anodizing too. If someone wanted to turn everything on their bike black would it be possible? |

Fine: Lower fork tubes on the stock forks Swingarm Frame Pegmount Pegs (it will chip off, but you can still PC them) Wheels Hubs Spokes Handlebars Clamps Bad: Mehhh, on motor...don't powdercoat anything but the ign cover or clutch cover for sure. You can lightly coat it with engine paint in a rattle can and be fine. But don't want to apply it to thick. But to be on the safe side, I wouldn't do anything but that covers. Chain Don't paint your plastics or gas tank! Everything else blah blah blah... | |

| Re: painting a klx110 question I rattle canned just about everything when it was a stocker and I liked how clean it looked. I didn't paint the exhaust but used black header wrap. Almost everything on the bike was black. Now that I upgraded the front end, and most of the engine, among other things, it doesn't look as good imo... I don't want to rattle can the new engine I don't think (even though the stock one looked good, held up good, and didn't seem to cause any problems). I wasn't sure if it kept the engine from cooling as efficiently. |
