OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

Had my new OGM for 5 weeks now. Bought it for southwick and to this day it won't run right. Why can't Dealers and manufacturers honor their product? I bought my bike from a vendor on this site and to this day can't ride it. Nobody is bending over backwards to help me and I feel like I am screwed out of $2000. Everybody is nice on the phone but in all reality they are just parts changers......not mechanics. I feel like the dealer should be responsible for warranty work(getting the bike to run)......is this asking too much? They sold me the bike, made their money and I can not use my purchase. Dave

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

Have you tried to figure out the problem yourself?
Did you research all symptoms it is having?

Yes a new bike is supposed to run spot on right? (sure..)
As the old, and very wise, saying goes: you get what you pay for.

Sucks that you can ride her yet.

Sounds crappy, hope you get everything worked out/settled seems unfair to buy a new bike only to look @ it.

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

yeah. Tried a bunch to get it to run. Now I am just pissed at it. Shouldn't be my problem to spend days trying to get it to run. It's kinda like butina new car to go to work in and it won't run but somehow it is your resposibility to fix it? Does that sound right? The dealer should be fixing it not the paying customer.

Wish I knew. So far it is unknowledgeable dealer and manufacturer.

It shouldn't be. The dealer should be trying to help (not giving his only daught though... big difference).

Sometimes they can only help so much.

Where's the thread stating your engine problems and asking for help from other members?

Wait a min...One more yx150 question :-P

You did have it running correctly at one time. This makes your story sound worse than it really is. Tweaking stories makes your look wrong when you're caught.

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

what do umean when I'm caught? I initially did what the dealer and manufacturer were saying but it was clearly other problem a. Now it's my fault? I bought a new bike with a lack or support behind it. I ape t $2000 and tried being the mechanic via dealer advice to. I avail. Should the problem now fall completely into the dealers hands? I only tried what the dealer recomsnded. Dave

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

Dump the inner rotor and get a flywheel. Then goto a 25 pilot and 98 main. Needle second clip from top and air screw about a half turn.

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

no jet kit alex. Was supposedly sent last week. I am one state away from the dealer. Maybe some "tuning tips" alex? I am no motorcycle mechanic. Why can't the dealer tune it?

I've never had a new bike come tuned from the dealer (4 and counting...).

My last big bike is super close though. That was $6800...not $2000.

One reason the dealer typically doesn't tune the bikes is because of all the variation. Altitude, temp, ect.

I'll stop hounding you now.

Good luck on getting the little bike going.

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

I agree if dealers are selling bikes that break down or don't run properly off the hop they should be responsible for that product. I had similar problems with my PP X4R and I spent $3000 and the dam thing still doesn't run properly. All I can say is you have to learn about your bike inside and out fast like I did so if anything goes wrong you know whats wrong with it and how to fix it properly.

Good Luck!

Re: OGM...too much to ask to be able to ride it?

I am willing to bet that if you replace your innner rotor with a flywheel or outer rotor, the bike will run great. We put a flywheel on our OGM bike and it made a world of difference in how it ran. We also have one with the outer rotor and if you can, go that route. It will still rev fast like the inner rotor but it will run a lot better.
