My son, Rayces custom built Pitster X4 has started an assault on the 65cc class , This bike is equipt with a purpose built >110cc engine (rules allow upto 110cc fourstrokes). It also has an X2 shock, and a swingarm that lowers and shortens the bike. This is his first season racing and he has came home with 5th, 5th, 6th, 5th and now a 4th place trophy! He is having a blast , what I think he likes the most is that all the kids ask questions about his bike all the time, Makes him feel cool. Here are a few shots of him waiting in the staging area and only one action shot (rechargeable batteries do not last as long as they say!)

OK so there was another fourstroke in there TTR110 , both still in a sea of burning oil!!

OK OK he knows what to do now make room for Rayce!!

Rayce was mad as we missed his "big air shot!"

I had to race my mod 110 in the 85 amateur class the other day, i had to talk them into letting me race. I was like come on guys, its air cooled and has a 12' wheel

. It was pretty tough, i got 4th out of 23 so its not that bad. Thats sweet to see one in the 65 class. I wanted to put my nephew on my 110 in the 65 class but they wouldnt allow it.

The mini open class was full of CRF 150s and a few 100cc& 85cc two strokes.

My daughter rode her 110 in a 65 open class with 14 boys and took 2nd overall
riding for seat time between pitbike classes,some mad boys on 65's!

Rayce wanted me to add that he is 8 years old. the 65 ages range from 7 to 11.

NCC your sons name is Rayce? That has to be the coolest name for a kid i have ever seen. How did you get your wife to buy off on that or even com up with it? I bet the kids behind him werent to happy losing to a kid on a pit bike. Is he more comfortable on the pit or a real 65?

Well the ultra sound said he was going to be a girl? So i told my wife if the baby was a boy i wanted to call him Rayce Ryedr, she said I could call him Rumplstiltskin for all she cared because it was going to be a girl, Guess what ,,, Rayce Ryedr was born a boy!!

Oh, he rides the fourstroke soo much better than the two stroke, it will pull through turns in third without bogging and does not need to be kept in the powerband. He also did not like the bogg/hit of the 65.

I bet she wont make that kind of mistake again. Way to beat the system.

Thats what made me wonder was the torque of the 4stroke vs the topend of the 2stroke. Some kids love to just hold it open some lug it. What kind of track have you ran this on? Tight, national, medium? I have a few friends that have kids around his age that are getting tired of spending the loot to keep there 65s going that may be interested in something like this.

we have ran both, tight with supercross style and long big tracks. tell your friend we put a very fast 65, 11 year old rider on one for pratice and he told his dad he felt faster because he could run each gear longer or not even make three shifts between short straights like he did in the 65. kind of like racing a 125 two stroke against the 250Fs.

those kids you are talking about will improve lap times instantly.

thats always great to see! i remember when i was 14-16 i won the ims supercross pro series for the 80cc class the first year on my 1988 xr120 powered kx 80, then the next two on my 98 cr80 big wheel xr120. its so fun to spank people on a old 4 stroke. people always would protest and i would say "ride my xr and ride your 80"

I know what your saying, My older boys are 26, 23 and 19 so bringing Rayce to the races takes me back to some awesome memories from the mini days of past years, only thing is I am not quite as serious about it!!
I keep telling Rayce it is all in fun.
