CHP Texas Mini National Official Results

I just made it home from the race, it was a blast.

Big ups to CHP and NTMX for putting on a great event.

As far as pro classes went, this is how it ended.

10"
1. Willy Browning
2. Austin Pollitelli
3. Brad Ripple

12"
1. Willy Browning
2. Austin Pollitelli
3. Brad Ripple

Jason Langford Jr took home both 10" and 12" amateur titles as well.

Not sure how everyone else finished, I took an 8th in the 88 class in the first moto and blew the thing up in the 2nd.

I heard he was going to race pro because, this was a non AMA event and nothing could be said about it. I guess that was true!!

Well...If everone notice they changed the rules on the youth class to like 13 and younger.. Where last year they were 18 and younger.. But since chp has a super fast kid, they bent the rules a little to favor them.. Which is all good.. But, every other mini race youth is considered 18 and younger or 16 depending on the race.. But, if you put a 80cc mini superstar on a pitbike, of course he will be super fast... But, poleteli must be careful, because if he accepts money as an ametuer, it can really mess his status up down the road if people push the issue.. That is my take on the situation!!

Thats where the big loophole is.

There is technically no "expert" 85 class, so he could be clear. That and CHP got a letter from the AMA saying if he ran a "pro" pitbike class that it wouldn't effect his amateur status, mainly because the AMA really doesn't care about pitbikes.

In Jason Langfords situation, he was going to run pro, but had no letters from the AMA saying it would be ok, and he didn't want to ruin his career (he's still a B rider.) He was protested quite a bit for running the AM classes, but when it comes down to it, he is NOT a pro and it would just be stupid to risk something like that. Jason is a good friend of mine, and he definitely wanted to run the pro class, but it was just too big a risk.

There weren't any transponders, but there were 4-5 guys taking lap times on the fastest guys.

Re: CHP Texas Mini National Official Results

ya we ran into this last winter in the indoor gig up here. Jay talked to the ama about a young super fast rider up here and they really did not have a "yes" or "no" anwser so it's kind of in the "gray" area.

Turnout was pretty good, nothing like Vegas, but good considering how far it is away from most people.

2UP Minis had a bunch of guys come down, so it was cool to see the east coast making the trip.

BBR didn't bring the big rig down, but had Carl Schlact and Tom Parsons there riding under the Wonder Warthog semi.

Pitster brought some riders down as well.

Vinco had Billy Ainsworth riding for them, but broke the frame on one bike and didn't do too well with the others.

Overall there was a good bunch of riders in the pro class, Dennis Hotson came down from OK, there were several TX big bike pros there too.

There were full gates on the 12" am class, and pretty close on the 10" am. 15-16 riders in 88 as well.

I saw them pushing one of the Vinco bikes off all choppered out.

Carl did well, I want to say 4th or 5th first moto, but I think he blew his bike up. He was on his stock KLX in the second 12" pro moto. He did win the stock/mod class though.

Unfortunalty fastest lap times don't win a race....Ask Willy, I believe at Vegas he had the fastest lap time there.

Re: CHP Texas Mini National Official Results

just wanted to say thanks to Lyle and Justin at CHP for making this race possible, and giving us a shot at making it happen, as some of you may know there was talk this year of ending the CHP mini national, and instead Lyle decided go a new direction and have a track run the show, with justin helping with getting everything lined out. we were lucky enough to be that track and All of you racers were there to help make it a great race.
We greatly appreciate all of you who raced, traveled, spectated, sponsored or helped in any way.
Thanks,
Spanky,and the NTMX Crew
