benefits of shock reservoir

whats the benefits of shock reservoir and is it possible to remove res from 1 shock and put on a shock that originally did not have res on it given there are benefits?

Well somebody can probably explain it better but it allows the shock to hold more fluid for better dampening and smoother travel.

While also keeping the oil inside the shock cooler=same performence the whole time you ride.
