YSR50 Will not stay running - Help Please! I am having a problem getting my YSR50 to Start and stay running. I bought it from a guy who had it sitting in his garage for over a year. I removed the carb to clean it and to make sure the float was not stuck. In the bowl there was no gum but there was some sand like grit in it. After thoroughly cleaning the carb and the jet I reassembled it and mounted it to the bike. I then drained the fuel tank, that was recently coated on the inside, and filled it with fresh gas. I check the fuel screen on the pet cock inside the tank for clogs and there were none. I then mounted a clear inline fuel filter and connected the fuel line to the vertical port on the carb. In viewing the clear fuel filter I noticed clean fuel and it was flowing. At this point I have the factory airbox removed. I sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb and kicked the kick starter. The bike fires right up and sounds quite healthy. But then it quickly dies when it loses it's fuel source, the carb cleaner. I unscrewed the drain on the bottom of the bowl to see if there was fuel, and when I did so fuel came leaking out. So I know it is getting fuel. Any suggestions? Am I missing something? Could it be the mixture setting? What about the reeds? Where are they located and could they be causing such symptoms? Thank you all in advance for your help. I am anxious to get her on the road. -Charles

Re: YSR50 Will not stay running - Help Please! check your compression and take your carb apart again. im 100% positive if you had sand grit in there they get sucked into the jets and plug em up. clean it once more with compressed air

Re: YSR50 Will not stay running - Help Please! If the person did a shoddy job on the tank coat that crap can flake off and suck up into your jets as well. I hate that crap after everything I went through with it.

Re: YSR50 Will not stay running - Help Please! it may be sucking air throug the crank seal, in order to diagnose this remove the stator cover, start the bike and spray carb cleaner under the magneto, if you notice a change while you spray that means your problem is the crank seal.
