YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question Hello Guys, I finally purchased another YSR50 and RZ350. Both of which I used to own in High School (20 years ago). The problem is that the YSR has been sitting for over a year in the previous owners garage. The fuel tank was removed when I took delivery of the bike as he had coated the inside of the tank. I removed the air box and shot some carb cleaner in the carb and it fired up on the first kick, so I know it runs. What I need to know is where do the 2 lines on the bottom of the tank attach on the carb? One of the lines appears to be a breather/vent line and the other, that attaches to the pet cock is the fuel delivery. There are 2 places on the carb for the lines to attach. One is vertical and the other is horizontal. Which line goes where? Also, the oil tank is full. Should I trust that the oil injection is still working and not clogged after sitting for over a year? Is there a way to test it's functionality? Any pointers or tips that i should be aware of as I try and fire this bad boy up? Thank you for all of your advice and input. It is greatly appreciated! -Charles

Re: YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question The middle of the tank is a breather, the vertical port on the carb is the feed, other is overflow. carb is prob. gummed up/ or the float is stuck, so if i were you i would take it apart and clean the jets/slide/ect.... I would STRONGLY recommend going to pre pix set up. the oil injector is knowned to fail. get a block off from TCR or make one. ~Shawn

Re: YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question Thank you Shawn! Will I need a gasket kit for the carb once I disassemble? Should I run the line from the pet cock to the vertical port and the breather line to the horizontal one?

Re: YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question shawnbassett26 pretty much summed it up. If I may add too..... if the previous owner was smart enough (figuratively speaking) and emptied out the fuel contents within the bowl of carb, a light dousing of carb cleaner wouldn' hurt. If you plan to use the oil injection, empty out the contents and replenish with fresh 2-stroke oil (injection only). Also, inspect the air filter. It may need to be replaced Lastly, ave you changed the gear oil yet? If not, you should; Castrol GPX 20-50 wt. Have fun!

Re: YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question Gasket kit on the carb? i would replace it, just to be on the safe side. But if you take it appart and looks ok, you might be good. will take you 10 min to pull the carb/claen it/and reinstall it. + on the filter also. i would def change all fluids in the bike befoe running it more. Fuel line? pet cock to vertical line on carb. vent on tank, (mine is open but i have a 4 stroke) not completely nessary to run the vent lines together. fule line is the important one. You have my # if you need help. ~Shawn

Re: YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question Vent line from tank..... If you don't have a hose connected to it, don't worry. It's there to prevent vapor lock within the tank. FYI, from the factory, a hose is connected to it and just dangles toward the ground, and behind the swing-arm (wheel side). Connect the petcok to the inlet of the carb. To be safe, install a small fuel filter too. It will keep any junk from the tank being delivered into the carb.

Re: YSR50 Fuel Delivery & Oil Injection Question One thing to add to their suggestions. Make sure it doesn't have the old crappy metal reeds. If one of those breaks off your ready for a rebuild. Boysen reeds are like $30 and well worth the money.
