NSR or NSF "PROJECT" bike wanted......

I just started mini road racing and would like to get an NSR or NSF project bike for my winter down time.
I really like the NSF body work and would be looking to put a 4 stroke engine in of some sort.

The perfect deal would be an NSF/R roller with or without body.
LMK what you have or where to look as well as what to expect to pay.

I'd take a basket case or an x-race bike as well. Looking for a project bike I can use for track days and what not. Not looking for a collectors piece just a usable set up.

I figured as much, but it can't hurt to put it out there. LMK if you stumble across anything that you pass on.

I may do something with my stocker Metrakit. I looked at it many times thinking about how easy it would be to get some other motor into. It would be awesome to drop in a 150R, or even a 150F motor. It won't be cheap though-- around $2000 w/o the motor, as Derbi engines tend to be in the $400+ range, and climbing as they get more difficult to find. I may go $1700 if I can keep the upper and lower bodywork. --L*64

How are the Metriakit's as far a size goes compared to the NSF/R?
I heard they are more styled for smaller/kid size people.
They are really nice twins you have there, no wonder your Lucky!

How about a YSR or two? I have one complete and one torn down for powdercoat and never reassembled.

Re: NSR or NSF "PROJECT" bike wanted......

Maz-- They have a longer wheelbase than any other 12 inch bike, and the way I have it set up, it handles like it's on rails.

As far as being for smaller riders-- it kind of is.... unless you get the tail for the bigger 17 inch wheeled bike. It's two inches longer. If you PM me with your home EM addy, I'll send you a pic of my race bike with the longer tail on it. It bolts right up like it belongs there. There are stiffer springs than what I have available for it too. I'm going to get them this winter.

If you look at where the engine mounts up-- there is a ton of room in there, the space frame is steel-- so it's an easy fab up. I had some NSR50's before, and I can assure you that these are the raciest chassis available with 12 inch wheels. I was hoping to get my hands on a GRC bike, but it looks like it isn't going to be available here in the States.

I love the bikes-- but I don't really need two of them as I rarely crash, and the one I'm racing has been stone reliable. The parts have been pretty available through Metrakit Canada, or Cycle Imports. Not only that-- but I've been leaning more in the pit bike direction than roadracing. --L*64

Tony, you never go fast enough to crash!! HAHAHA J/K man!
Those MK's are nice, and the pro kit for those really open up that bike and the power is crazy! Now, if Tony would slap some TT92's on that bike, then it would handle even better!

Re: NSR or NSF "PROJECT" bike wanted......

Hahaha... Actually-- Since I started reading, I really would be hard pressed to sell the stocker now. That gave me a jump on the winter projects. It looks like those sweet GRC bikes aren't coming here either, so I guess I'll keep racing the ones I have.

As far as crashing goes, I wish I didn't crash in the pit bike races... I usually don't crash in the actual races. But I've crashed at just about every event I've been to this year-- in practice anyway.

Re: NSR or NSF "PROJECT" bike wanted......

I have a '06 nsf100 that I may have to part with.
Purchased new from Honda of Houston.
It has one endurance season on it and has been down a few times.
Body work is still in one piece, and I'm gonna have it repaired before I sell.
Other than that, just some rashed bar ends and levers but I have new ones also.
I just had the motor and suspension(set up for 185 lb rider) serviced and it includes a few spares for racing like sprockets, levers, springs, etc.

Bike runs great and handles like a dream.

Will include the following:
-Takegawa full stainless exhaust system (NEW IN BOX)
-Takegawa big carb kit(NEW IN BOX)
-EXTRA FULL SET fairings from HRC (NEW IN BOX)
-EXTRA Seat pad from HRC (NEW IN BOX)
-EXTRA Windscreen from HRC (NEW IN BOX)
-Stiffer front springs from HRC (NEW IN BOX)
-Upper Fairing Stay from HRC (NEW IN BOX)
-misc. bolts and mounting hardware
-Stainless steel front brake line(NEW IN BOX)

Asking $3750 firm for the whole package.
Will drop off to forward air depot in Houston.
Buyer pays shipping.

With all those extras, that's a really decent price! Somebody should jump on that. How long did it take for the fairings to come from HRC? ---L*64

Re: NSR or NSF "PROJECT" bike wanted......

I had an NSF100 before. I was planning a project with it, but Honda pissed me off with their B.S. about bringing over a $5000 minibike, then having every part that isn't on a different model be on permanent backorder. ---L*64

Wow, if I had an extra $4K, I'd buy that bike right now!!!
Did you just order the fairing stay from a honda dealership?? I'm wanting to get one for my aftermarket bodywork that I've got on my NSR now.
