My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! Well i bought a 89YSR50 four weeks ago for $400 delivered with title. I was looking for that exactly (rolling frame) Didn't run. broken fuel petcock. No plastics. Dented gas tank (custom sweet paint). Someone tried to paint the frame and wheels black. 60cc kit. pretty stock. So far i took the motor out with in the first 10 min. 30min later the bike was stripped. I did alot of research before i bought the bike, so i knew what i was going to run into, broken ignition switch, shock/swing arm bushing worn out, rusted tank, $hity 6VOLT!!!! (AHHHH!!!), ECT..... So now I'm about to install my 86 XR200 motor (I just did a fresh rebuild AND 12VOLT! YEAH!). Fit it and then get the frame powder coated. Hopefully done in the next week. Fixed the huge dent in the tank and tomorrow ill (KREEM) it. Ordered a bunch of parts. (fix it crap, bearings/bushings/right spring/seals). Heres a few pics. Just getting started. more to come soon. Ill keep you posted. By the way all of the pics are taken with my phone, Sorry... When i got it. ![]() 30min later! ![]()

| Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! IV been looking for rear sets for a LONG time (many hours late at night!) cant find anything. Except mini moto... Was at work today and was thinking..... hummm.... Vortex rearest. So i called my buddy at vortex. They could make a set for me but it would cost a ton and take forever. I said oh well. Then i found a spare set! I have to do some welding on the frame anyways. so im going to move the bottem tab up about an inch or two to make them fit! Ps the rear brake works too. What do ya think? | Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! you should scrap the motor and find a nioce TLR 86-87 reflex honda motor. utilizes the same mounts but has crank mounted ignition and a 6sp with cases that are sucked in for a compact shape |

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! Get rid of that stock carb on the xr200. It will make it a total dog. Pop on a Mikuni TM28 Flatslide. Also, while you are at it, get the head ported and get some custom ground cams from webcamshaft.com. A stock xr200 doesn't make a lot of power, but it definitely has a lot of potential. Also, not sure how I feel about the back portion of the cradle that mounts up to the frame with those two flimsly 6mm bolts. You now have a substantially heavier motor in there with a lot more torque. You need to lop that stuff of, weld up some mating plates, and bolt them in there with some grade 8 hardware. I'd hate to see you running down the road with the motor dragging on the ground Nice innovative build. Last edited by fatcaaat; 02-20-2008 at 06:43 AM.

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! The motor is just mock up. thats not what im actually running. I have ALL new bolts spacers nuts.... ect. The motor is torn down right now to get a fresh rebuild. I do have plans in the NEAR future to do a big boar kit. There is also a major support on top of the motor that you cant see in pics. Im very confident with the mounts. The carb is gone, just used it of fitment. This bike will be dont to the T just not all at once.

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! Are you concerned at all about the heat coming off the head , and it being so close to the bottom of the gas tank ? And i think you should go with R1 plastics , not nsf plastics . It's a Yamaha . Just my opinion

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! No really worried about the heat. (1) i have thermo shield for the bottom of the tank. I wish i was the first to do the swap, but a few other people have done it with no problems. (2) the "R1" plastics suck. Iv seen them in person from a few difrent people who make them. not impressed. In my eyes it a honda. Will be putting NSR/NSf front forks, swingarm and wheels real soon. When im done the only thing on the bike that will be yamaha is the frame and tank.
