Getting a good condition YSR50 running again Hi there! I'm fairly new to the board so hi to everyone! I just picked up a 91 YSR50 that is in good very good condition, all stock - unfortunately it has been sitting for 10 years with no attention The bike - looks clean all around, just a tad of rust on the clip-ons, other than that everything looks VERY clean The bad: - throttle turns about a 1/16th of a turn and stops, I haven't forced it - carb issue? - bike goes in and out of gear, but the clutch feels funny - are the plates dry or is this something that requires more investigation? - tank is rusted as can be on the inside. I'm thinking of trying the electrolysis approach: 650 Rider > > Content > > How to Documents > > Removing rust from fuel tanks and parts with electrolysis The big question - what do you recommend I do to get the bike up and running? I'm comfortable around tools and bikes, however, I've never touched a two-stoke. -carbs -reeds? any info on how this system works? I'm used to valves! tires - any recomendations? I will probably take the bike onto some small road coursesat some point so something decent would be nice. Does Pirelli make a tire that fits? -anyone have a service manual? thanks for helping me get started!

Re: Getting a good condition YSR50 running again Wow that is a pretty good looking bike you got there. Manimal I think has the same body work on his derbi powered version. you should dump that motor and go with a derbi also. It will make you so much more happy when riding it.

Re: Getting a good condition YSR50 running again Thanks! I'm pretty excited just to get the bike running first. Since this bike is in such great shape and is all original I might look for another one to mess with. I'm looking forward to getting into some motor work, just not sure this is the one I want to do it on!

Re: Getting a good condition YSR50 running again check the trottle and clutch cable play. there used to be a repair manual you could download online. you'll have to do a search on here.

Re: Getting a good condition YSR50 running again Throttle is working - turns out the slide was stuck in the carb. Took the carb apart and cleaned everything including the 5 holes on the main nozzle. I don't have much experience working with carbs - I turned the pilot jet in all the way, same with the main nozzle and main jet - was that the right thing to do?
