Re: Bay Area YSR I hope its not a turd any more..... its getting there. Any ways it looks good, not a bad price though. Ever owned a YSR? there nitorious for (7000 mile) engine failure.... Or you can have the crank welded/ ballanced by TRC, makes it stronger but the crank WILL brake. Hope you get it! ~Shawn

Re: Bay Area YSR I think yours is bad ass. I have never owned one but was just kicking it around. I am surprised the YZ80 is a 6 speed! I was just thinking about snagging it to ride while my ZB is torn down for the final build.

Re: Bay Area YSR The YZ 80 motor does not have a lightning coil to run the lights. It does not come with the rechargable batteries. How much?$$ How long will the battery last if it is charged? This is the only thing that would bother me. Find out more information on this. tmas "but you will need your own re-chargeable battery packs to run the lighting system."

Re: Bay Area YSR Thanks tmas, I didn't even consider stator issues from the swap. I suppose it is not as easy as finding a GT80 or DT100 stator to plop on there?

Re: Bay Area YSR If you go to - Tech Talk and do some reading you may find the answer to your question. I wonder how long the rechargeable batteries would last especially on a night ride. The YSR is a 6 volt system. tmas - Tech Talk

it's possible the guy is running a total loss system (rechargable battery). Inquire with the guy to find out what he had done to operate his lighting. I had this set-up when I had a kx80 in my YSR, back in the mid 90's

Re: Bay Area YSR I had one (of several) back in the 80's racing them. 105mph at Willows springs and it didn't vigrate that bad as we made rubber mounts (and extended the swingarm 3 inches) was a really, really fun bike to ride. This one here is a smokin deal for sure as they are hard to find in good shape ( I had 10 of them in the racing days and would be filthy rich today if I still had them). Running the total loss system with a unplug or breaker switch usually can get you mega hours of on road time no problem. Plus you could get a stator made with lighting coil for it where it would run the battery and charge it too. The problem would be if a cop knew the difference as you'd wanna keep that bike as quiet as possible.....

Re: Bay Area YSR Thanks guys, I will check. It looks alot like the bike that was in the ride with Brad in SF. I may hit him up to see if it is the same bike.

Half of the bikes from the SF ride reside in the East Bay (me being just a town away from you). Pick it up this weekend and we'll do a ride up Redwood/Skyline/Grizzly and/or down Palomares/Calaveras. | |

Re: Bay Area YSR Very cool, I have a plated ZB and actually took Paunchy down Redwood from Castro Valley. I'm totally down for some mini rides. I snagged a helmet cam I never use and would love to get some footage of a fleet of mini's. We should try to get Brad over for litte East Bay tour!!!
