Hi Blair;

The Big Dog race will be run on Saturday, May 31 on the harescramble course that the day program runs on.

This course will be approx. 5 - 6 kms upto 8 kms in length (on Wednesday - we will have the exact distance). It has some obstacles (but do-able on minis); bush, water, hills, open areas. We will have 'sweepers' - guys on quads & bikes riding the course to help or assist riders if needed.

The race is self will be approx. 1 1/2 hours in length (but maybe longer for some) - following HS rules - if you pass the final checkpoint prior to the 1 1/2 hour; you'll do another lap. The riders will continue to make 'loops' on the track until the time is up.

Sign-in is from 5 - 6 PM (pre-entry is available); and riding meeting is at 6:45; racing to follow. This time has been delayed because of the demand from riders who work on Sat at the local bike shops (until 5pm).

We are trophying to 3rd place in both classes.

Big Dog Class - 10" max. Rear wheel; and 16+ years old; 50cc - 150cc
Oversize Big Dog - 16+ years old; overside rear wheel; 50cc - 150cc

All big dog's must have a 'readable' number on front & side # plates. Please contact me; and I will reserve your #. Black on White background; or White on Black is the easiest to read for the lap counters.

If you need more info Blair; please don't hesitate to contact me. Hope to see you. We are also, please to announce that Kiwi Productions Inc. Will be on site video'ing the weekend (he will have people video'ing on key locations throughout the course); along with supplying announcing & music.

If you or anyone that you know; Sunday's course is going to be approx. 25 kms in length & will be approx 2 1/2 hours + in duration.

Thanks for your inquiry,

Wendy

We are hoping it's going to be a lot of fun! Frank & his girlfriend Elisabeth have been working like 'dogs' to get a fun & challenging track. Along, with a few other friends.

Yes, Frank is building a superX big dog track; but it is still unknown if he's going to include it into this event. He's talking about a July 1st 'Grand Opening' for the facility!

As far as the CMRC license - for the big dog race - it is not required at this point - however, all racers will probably be asked to fill out a form (no payment); and if there is a major incident occurs during the racing - then a payment for rider(s) will have to pay the license fee. (this is because - we - BUMP - have 'race insurance' which is the event insurance; however, the CMRC license is the 'rider's insurance'). You won't require the CMRC license for big dog races held here (superX or HS) for the remainder of 2008. If you want personal coverage - CMRC license will provide 'riders' insurance whenever you are riding your dirtbike. Sorry, if this sounds confusing Blair.

As far as numbers go - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 are all available - everyone must figure single digits are all taken. You can take a pick of one of these; or if you have a number in mind - just shoot me an email - & I'll hold it for you.

Hope this answered your questions Blair;

Looking forward in meeting you,

Wendy

Re: BUMP Harescrambles & Big Dog Harescrambles (JUST NORTH OF EDMONTON)

Hey Blair;

Glad you came out, & survived the HS (harescramble).

Hope you all had fun, I know the crowd enjoyed the race, especially corner one of the parade lap! Were you in the pileup?? On Sunday morning, everyone was talking about it!

Gary that won the Big Dog didn't race his HS race on Sunday, he said he had too much fun the night before ... personally I think he was hurting alittle!

Frank came 2nd in the Pro class on Sunday (beaten out by Jason Thomas from England - a World Classed Pro).

So Blair, when do you want to do it again??? in a couple of weeks! Frankie is talking July 1st opening!

Wendy

ps. also Blair, sorry I didn't see your email .... graphics were kewl! ... have to maybe get you to do some up for Frankie's bikes for 'bump'

Wendy i'm totally down for july first. Just means we have to get more guys out for this.

I'm still hurting from saturday, yet I can't wait to do it again.

Any idea when the vids will be done?

Talking Re: BUMP Harescrambles & Big Dog Harescrambles (JUST NORTH OF EDMONTON)

Thanks so much Wendy and gang, the races made for an awesome weekend.
I was really impressed with the turn out for the big dog race. That's definitely
the biggest fiddy race I've ever been in-38 riders off the shotgun start!

I missed the pile up in turn one of the parade lap-didn't know anything about it.
I was second behind Frankie heading out for the parade lap and I was wondering
why it took so long for the group to catch up when we stopped to wait!
I'm pumped to watch the dvd when it's ready and check it out for myself.
I saw the camera out on the trail a couple times during the race too.

I was pretty bagged after the race, but at least I finished it.
I think alot of the riders weren't expecting it to be that hard to
ride 10km loops through the bush. I couldn't believe how many
guys were wearing only shoes for footwear!

I was in good shape for Sunday's harescramble-alot better than I thought
I'd be Saturday night. What a fun race. It was the 10 km we did for the big dog race
and another tighter, muddier five km added on. I was quite a bit faster
on my 450 over the same part of the race that we did on the minis though!
Plus I had it well memorized from three laps the night before.
Oh man were there some fast guys out there! I think Frankie and Jason
must have lapped me like 5 times!

Wendy could you post some pictures on this site of the superX big dog track
when it's finished so everyone can check it out? That would be cool.
Thanks again and see you next time. Shawn

Question Re: BUMP Harescrambles & Big Dog Harescrambles (JUST NORTH OF EDMONTON)

Hey DC I was riding the #2-parked right beside you (#916).
I was banging bars with some one thru turn three or four
off the start of the race and I'm pretty sure that was you!
Sorry 'bout the elbows!!! Good times.

I don't do facebook so I can't see the other pics you're
talking about, but I checked out the pics in the roost section.
My GF left the camera at home so I've got nothing to share.
(I gave her hell for that!)

You said you got 10th out of 17 or 18...I was told there were
38 racers on the line, 4 12" and 34 10". So that means you got
10th out of 34 in your class. I think only 17 out of 34 did at least
one lap which under harescramble rules counts as a finish.
If you don't get one lap it's a DNF. Lots of guys weren't
quite ready for 10kms of bush riding!

I did 3 laps in 1 hour 35 mins-8th place. I probably hit the ground
about 6 or 7 times and got lapped near the end by the top 4 racers.
It was a ton of fun and I'd like to do it again soon.

Smile Re: BUMP Harescrambles & Big Dog Harescrambles (JUST NORTH OF EDMONTON)

Hi Blair & Shawn!

We're so glad you guys all had fun! We've had heard nothing but good things from the weekend, especially the big dog event!

Frankie, Elisabeth, Bryce, Mark, Laurence & I are planning the ' big dog games' or ' big dog challenge' coming very soon to BUMP!

Hint of things to come ..... mmmmm maybe a 'BUMP Big Dog Trialothon' along with 'BUMP Big Dog Games'! The trialothon will be a series of three different events - each scoring 25 points to 1 point depending on riders' finish. The last event will probably be a 'romp' through a big dog harescramble course (of course)! Only Frankie knows for sure! But one thing for sure, this will be occuring very soon. (County has given us/Frankie permission to carry-on & allow riding - they were very impressed with last weekend.) The concession hasn't even taken down their facilities!

Also, Bryce is saying the DVD is coming along; & that the big dog portion is unbelievable!

Hope you both & all the other 'big dogs' will make it out!

Wendy
