My first stunt build *pics/ couple questions also

50s are fun in the dirt but I keep seeing videos of stunters on the street and it looks mad fun, so i came across a deal on another icon 50x so i bought it for $300.I know its not a honda but its solid, swinger and forks arent too long i dont think. Had some spokes broken on the back so i went ahead and bought a whole new wheel. Between the wheel and a few other misc parts ive spent another $100 and i dont plan to spend much more. I tore the bike down to the frame cleaned it up, and painted the swinger. Here it is as of now.

engine:

Now for the questions. Heres a picture of the swinger bolts. I need to know whether or not 50 stunt pegs would mount up. Its backwards from a crf but i think they might still work.

Also, Im not sure whether or not its due the longer swinger and frame or or the 18mm carb on a 49cc or my lack of skill or a combination of the 3 but wheelies are tougher than when i had my xr50. Once i get the wheelies up I can ride them ok, but i have to use alot of force to get them up, and i would like it to be easier. Im not sure if i should find out if a crf carb would mount up or if i should get the dratv kit. Around here you can ride on the street as long as your under 50cc, so im not sure on the 88.

Any other advice would be awesome.

i think the pegs will still work just have to use them backwards.....the longer swinger and frame will make it a little harder imo to do stuff with..but its whatever you get used to. looks like a good start, im not sure what to tell you about the carb

its going to be hard to lift it up because of the complete front end. much heavier.

and with a longer swingarm, even harder. that one is not TOO long though, so shouldnt make a huge difference, but the front end is gonna kill ya.

Re: My first stunt build *pics/ couple questions also

if the engine is running fine then the carb is good. and yes it was going to be harder to pull up because the rear wheel and pivot point is going to be further behind you since you say it is extended. the easiest way to "get" more power is to put a smaller sprocket on it. top speed wont be as fast but it will feel a lot more torquey

if your just starting out the front will seem super heavy to get it up but with time you will get it down without hardly trying

Re: My first stunt build *pics/ couple questions also

The engine is running fine with the carb but the carb is 18mm so i thought that would cause the low end to be weak. This bike has 4 gears and has a higher top speed than a 50 should have so im gonna try droppin it down a tooth in the front and see what happens. I can still ride wheelies but i guess the xr50 spoiled me. That thing rode wheelies on its own.

ya thats prolly because hondas have a pretty short wheelbase and the sporckets could be different....ya ive always heard that goin up or down 1 tooth in the front is like going the same direction in the rear with 2 teeth

You mean opposite direction in the rear. Going down 1 on the front is like going up 2 on the rear.

Not true. I have SP-5's and I can go way past bp with just throttle no tugging...

Im starting to lean towards the 88 kit. Is there a way i could mark 49cm3 or whatever it says on the cylinder and make it look legit?

Im not sure how those kits will work with the e22 head on the icon. I cant figure out for sure if i need a domed piston or not. Guess i will just have to figure it out.
