XR70 with 88 Kit Carb Help

Have a 02 XR70 I put a 88 kit on and cannot get this thing to run worth a ****. I've rejetted the stock carb to no avail. If I go to a larger carb what size should I go with? I'll also need a new manifold correct? All help appreciated. It's for the kids not me

I have the exact same problem, jetting doesn't help at all. Still working on it. I put the kit in a year ago -- still will not run beyond idle, backfires and bogs horribly.

Well i have a 20mm and I would want a 22mm even a 24mm flat side. Get a good intake.

Not much need for a bigger carb, with an 18mm intake port. Clean it up again, put the stock jets in except a 3 sizes larger main, move the clip one notch lower. Aftermarket filter and pipe? Add one more main size. Double check the cam timing. Seen too many carbs blamed wrongfully

If it is the carb, TB 20mm carb kit. If it's timing, readjust your cam gear...

Ya, jetting did nothing whatsoever. I tried every jet and clip position etc. I really think it is the cam chain now... going to fix that RIGHT NOW!

its not the cam chain. I am thinking it is something electrical. I think the spark is not advancing..? nothing seems to change at all how it runs.

Did I mention how bad this sucks? It has been over a year and I still can't get this thing to run. I have not been able to ride with my son in 2 years.
