crf70 suspension setup well, i just bought a leftover 06 crf70 and have done a few motor upgrades and am no looking to the front suspension before i break something... I weight 190lbs. and have been considering getting the BBR damping rods and heavy duty fork springs for the front end. Has anyone been running this? I was told it converts my forks into the SP5 forks, but doesn't give me extra travel. Im not concerned with any extra travel because I am trying to make this fun for me, and also ridable/raceable for a 7 year old. If i run this setup, what weight fork oil should I use? Who makes a good rear shock in the $100-$150 range? Or would I be alright with a Pro-Wheel? Or could I change the spring and be ok? I know suspension is a big deal and I dont want to overlook it, but I am not building anything spectacular, I just want something dependable that I dont have to be concerned with breaking everytime I ride it.

You can get longer rods like the BBR units that'll put you at about 5 inches of travel, and should tighten damping up slightly. HD springs are a must, I'm using Minibikesprings.com units in my forks, BBR's should be good too. The last mod you can do would be to have someone tweak the forks to accept cartridge emulators. Talk to RJPRacing (Ray) and see what he can do for you, he should be able to rework those forks such that they really surprise you. On the back, we've had good luck with Pro Wheel shocks, but we also only motard them, so all bets are off on jumping. Works makes a solid shock, I had good luck running a Pitster Pro import shock and jumping so that's an alternative option.

For the front you might want to try XR80 or forks. I installed a set on my son's bike and it gave it at least another 2-3 inches of travel (more if you have a longer rear shock. Pics are here: http://www.planetminis.com/honda-crf...rk-options.htm As for the rear we had a Prowheel shock and my 9 year old broke it. The shaft broke and the shock came through the seat. I would not recommend it for jumping. We ended up getting a shock extender on ebay and a bbr spring for the stock shock. We also have a I-shock on our KLX110 that is very nice ($320) and it comes with 3-4 different springs. Good Luck . . .

i will second pro wheel sucking.. without even making anything up the shock only made it about four laps on a little pit bike track. the jumps weren't even big probably only 10 ft and the shaft of the shock bent.

i sent a message to RJPRacing about the cartridge emulators, what exactly is that? I am also wondering what weight fork oil to go with? I think I might get the extender and a bbr hd rear spring or maybe pony up the extra dough for an ishock or something like that... the bike wont be jumping really at all, the kid has never ridden a bike and i want to get him on something while hes young, and i am just gonna wheelie it... i basically want something to tinker with now that my 400ex is about 100% done... i might try running it at a track sometime, once its all built, but we will see

crfracing70, if you decide to do the BBR hd spring in the rear I have one just sitting in the garage you can have for real cheap. Like $40 shipped is what I'm thinking. I got it when I first got my 70 so I could ride it stock for a bit and it actually worked quite well. I liked it much better than my KLX stock suspension with the hd spring. That's a cheap way to make it rideable until you figure out what suspension you want for the rear end. I ended up going with a Reeg setup and zokes up front so this spring is just sitting there. Let me know.
