Crf 70 cheap fork options Does anyone know if Xr/Crf 80 or 100 forks fit on the 70? I'm looking for a cheap option to raise the front end of a 70 to about 29 inches.

im almost sure that the 80 or 100 front end will not fit. but i think any xr50 front end will fit. and there are alot of aftermarket front ends out there for 50s.

here are some cheap forks that they say will make your bike sit at 31.5 inches at the top of the fork http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INVER...37279279QQrdZ1

I put CRF 80/100 forks on my 70. Use the stock 70 lower triple, and a BBR top clamp. Then use a CRF 100 brake cable to reach your high bars. My forks are slid up in the clamps a little to make the bike sit level. The rear is a +4 (really a +2 on a 70) swinger with a DC shock. I do belive that the CRF 80/100 front wheel spacer is needed. I think that the 70 spacer made the forks pull in too much.

| BBR damping rods + HD Springs will get you another inch or so.

Tucker330 did you notice a big difference with those forks and how hard were they to adapt for your 70?

I went from stock to the 80/100 forks so sure it was a big change. I also changed to a heavier oil and raised the oil height before putting the 80/100forks on. I dont have a compairison with the stock 80/100 setup. I do think they have more travel than the 70 forks. The swap was actually bolt on as described. The hardest part was sourcing the all the parts from E-B*Y.

So I'm guessing that the Xr/Crf 70/80/100 have different stems?

100 forks will work as said in other post stock lower clamp BBR top clamp. 100 wheel spacer and long brake cable. I would also say BBR springs and 20wt oil. I got some 05 100 forks off ebay for $90.00 like new. This is my build on my sons forks on his bike. Forks are 05 crf100 that I cut down top tube 3in. I made long travel damper rods with short top out bumpers making 8in of travel. The damper rods I put smaller oil flow holes so that I can use 5wt oil. Most people use 20wt to slow the forks but the oil stays at the top of the fork around the spring and takes to much time to travel back down to the bottom of the fork making air cavation in the damping. The more travel of the fork made me need more oil than the top fork tube could hold when fully bottomed. I made two canisters on each fork that fit between the triple clamps that I made two holes in the fork tubes for the oil to go in and out. I can put the oil height real high to Keep the damper rod covered with oil at all times and the 5wt oil flows back down faster. Springs are BBR. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...b/100_1267.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...b/100_1271.jpg

Would they fit on a ttr 90 also with the same mods? Instead of a bbr I could use a sano top clamp. What do you guys think? Thanks

Would I be better off putting on the 80/100 forks or should I go with some old motocross forks like cr/rm 60/80 forks?

you could always go with the KTM 65sx forks. You can pick them up realatively cheap if you look around and I believe it's possible to make the KTM clamps work with the 70 with a spacer or stem. Don't remember for sure. I picked up a set of '04 KTM 65sx forks about a month ago for $375 with triple clamps, and the whole front brake system.
