Capabilities of a xr70?: I found one in my local ad's and they are selling it for a fairly cheap price compaired to normal. just wanted to see what the boundaries were on this bike in stock form and is their any bad things than come from it compaired to other bikes ? I previously had a klx110 is it similar to that and a ttr90 ? is it able to be jumped without worrying about it snapping over some 20 footer ? they bike runs smooth the parents just want to sell it to buy a larger bike for their kid.going to possibly buy it this evening for $450. thanks,i plan to pick this bike up either way.

Re: Capabilities of a xr70?: the frame will stretch just like a crf50 frame will, eventually. then, you limited to a reeg or billetware frame. five o/sano make a +2 swinger. fork options are severely limited, crf50 fast aces, zokes, kx60/65 and make a set of triple clamps. only other swingers are reeg mono setups. engine can be sapped for a yx or build the honda with crf50 parts. plastics are limited as well.

Re: Capabilities of a xr70?: The xr70's are nice tank-like bikes. I picked one up for $175, it came in two boxes and a 5 gallon bucket! I had to put close to $200 in missing parts and some paint. It runs great now and you can just tell this thing can take a beating and keep on running forever. It has turn out to be a great neighborhood cruiser - quiet and comfortable.

Re: Capabilities of a xr70?: Pics? Price? casedfmx69@yahoo.com And to the OP yes 70's are great bikes and the stock frames will take a lot more abuse then a stock 50 frame but will eventually bend. Best thing to do is brace it right away, So you don't have to buy an after market frame later on. Fox float does wonders even with the stock swinger I'm still running that setup. Forks are cake. get XR80/100 forks or any 50 forks. I have RCM forks on mine now and they suck compared to XR80 forks. I wish I would of kept them. Only thing better about china forks are the better brakes. And there isn't many plastics available for the XR's but You can mod them to take CRF 70 plastics. I can't wait to sell my SSR and build a CRF70.
