What Oil for Big Bike 4-Stroke?

What oil is the best to run in the 4 strokes nowadays? Also, is it bad to run synthetic in the transmission? I heard synthetic is only for the engine. What is the absolute best performing oil?

There are more myths about synthetic oil than you will ever know. These myths are carried on by ignorant people. Do some research about synthetic oil and you will learn a lot.

Also, don't ask for oil brand recommendations. That's like asking which brand of clothing, motorcycles, cars, etc that somebody likes. It's merely preference. Some people will swear that their favorite oil has given them an extra 20 horsepower or lowered the engine temperature 50 degrees. It's mostly bull****. You'll need to look for oil comparison tests if you want to get to the bottom of the facts. Oh and if you do a Google search don't be fooled by the "facts" that are listed on the twenty million Amsoil "dealer" sites online. Search elsewhere.

IMO run whatever you feel is best but just keep up on oil changes.Keeping the oil fresh is more important than the oil brand.

Good point. Fresh petroleum oil will do more for your engine than dirty synthetic ever will.

Yes, it is too much if you use a quality oil. Unless you have a highly modified engine and are racing at pro level speeds, then it's not necessary. Others might disagree, but today's oil is so high quality and you're wasting money.

I know most people on dirt bike forums, rave about chaning theirs every riding day, or every weekend..

Personally if I'm riding in DIRTY DUSTY conditions, i'l change it every 4-6 days of riding..

But I never get to serious about it, and someitmes I'l go 10-20 rides in dusty areas before changing it!

I know most stunt riders, will go 100+ days without changing it..

Hell on 50's, I know most my friends almost never change it! lol
