How will the CRF150R affect the mini scene?

Will the crf150r be the end of high dollar mini builds for the most part? Might even sway some high end Chinese motorcycle purchases (x3r,motovert etc) why not pay a little more and have a Honda. I run an almost stock drz110 and I was about to pull the trigger and spend of ton of cash getting it up to race bike level. With this bike being released that is defiantly not gonna happen. I will keep the drz because its still a great play bike. Sure some people will say it not a true pitbike, not air cooled, no open cradle frame etc. but frankly I don’t really care. I just wanted something I can do big bike jumps with and haul some serious ass, while still having that mini feeling. Im sure the after market is working on parts for these as I write this.

Lets discuss how the bike will change things? No more need to spend 10G’s on a race bike, maybe even a redefinition of a pitbike?

I tend to agree! No one will be spending so much money on other pit bikes sense the honda sounds like itll be on of the cheapest ones out there! But if you want to haul some ass, You should get a big bike!!

I had one here 2 days ago and it's not a mini and will prob not have an effect on pitbikes ...the motor is incredible for sure but the bike looks old . when they go to a permiter frame the 2 stroke 80s will be done ,the bike is fast.

The new Honda is in the same league as the 85s, it is not a pitbike.

First of all, It can't race the old 150s. Its 4 vavle head and liquid cooled means it will have its own class. Its more of an 85 killer than an old 150 killer.

it wont affect it b.c. its not a pit bike or mini. Its the same thing as an 85 in my opinion and anyone who thinks otherwise is only kidding themselves. I hope none of our local tracks let them on.

yea.. it kinda goes outside the guidlines of being a mini or a pitbike.. it's a mid level ( younger teen) race bike...definately not a mini.. not even a mid-size mini IMO

If ACE and OWC aren't going to let them ride they should say so quick as there are people on the waiting list. At ACE would they ride with the 2 stroke class?

You never see anyone on a CR80 crusing around the pits at a race. And I would think it is more of a light class bike then anything else. So I don't think it will effect the seine that much.

pitbike rules are generally aircooled, non-cradle frames. so it shouldn't be allowed to compete in a pitbike race. and although their is no pure 85cc adult class it can be raced in the vet classes!!! (which i may do)
