Honda 150F Video: Stock vs. Mods

Hey, this is my first post and probably I should introduce myself. I am an older adult with two boys going to college and while they are still at home last year I got two used CRF150f bikes. I tried to get a bike that wasn't too powerful because my sons had no experience on bikes, even though I do. So it had to be fun for me too.

Well, you guys know the 150F is no race bike but I have found them to be perfect for my situation. Right now my older son, age 21, and his girlfriend are riding our two 150s around our 20 acre property. Yep, she's hanging in there, having just learned to ride.

So these bikes are great for beginners but also you can do wheelies on them and slide around, so they're fun for a range of riders, until you want to get real serious.

This year I intalled a 175cc big bore kit in one of the bikes, while the other is still stock. The difference is amazing. THe modded bike will win the holeshot every time now. The video shows what a big bore kit will do for you -- better than a dyno reading.

I like to make videos of my riding experience and share them with others. I posted this on two of my favorite sites, but here it is one more time, for those who have 150F's. It's a shootout between the stock 150 and the modded one, to see which is quickest now.

Welcome aboard, if you haven't done the 428 chain and sprocket conversion yet you might want to consider it. It makes a nice difference in responsiveness after you ditch the heavy overkilled 520 chain.

No, I haven't done the 428 conversion yet. I at least have taken off the O ring chains and installed DID 520 chains (hand-me-downs from my bigger bike). Also, I just put a new aluminum 45 tooth sprocket on the modded 150. It's the right sprocket for that bike now. Top speed reached 70 mph. So I really can't throw that stuff away to do a 428 conversion, although it's a good idea.

Thanks for the welcome.

I understand, when the time comes definetly get the 428 it will make a big difference on the stock bike. Get an air filter uncork the stock exhaust or get the powroll thrust nozzle and rejet in addition to the 428 conversion and it really wakes the bike up good. Even regardless I would check what air filter your bike has, if you have the junk single stage foam change it out right away for a uni. With that stock filter it will be no time before it sucks dust in.

RcWannabe, I got rid of my airbox and installed a K&N air filter. Also, I put on a 28mm flat slide carb. It rocks now. Your suggestions are awesome vs. stock, but I went a step beyond. When you ditch the airbox as I did, you then have to figure out where to run the crankcase breather hose. The solution is to hang a catch can under the seat and run the hose to it. Also, without the airbox I had to create an aluminum shield to keep dirt from flying off the wheel into the shock and carb. That all took some time and is just a part of getting to know your bike better.

I noticed that, the stock bike is what I was referring to. For your mod bike if you are worried about it you could get an outerwares cover for your K&N filter.

Re: Honda 150F Video: Stock vs. Mods

I'm lucky that I have a bit of land to ride on so I ride at home and also I take the bikes to supermoto track days. At home, it's mostly brisk riding over grassy fields and some flat track on a horse arena, and supermoto involves a paved track, like a road course, which goes off into a dirt section with jumps, then back onto the paved track. Mostly, I have ridden a 450 or 525, when I'm not at home. My other videos demonstrate the totality of my riding exploits, and you can see them on YouTube here: YouTube - okemos1's Videos
