MN, IA, WI, midwest riders...listen up...Sandbox arena

Sandbox Arena just opened and I went there on Saturday and this place was amazing. First of all, we walked in to the lobby and it was huge and was filled with entertainment stuff...Arcade games/beer vendor/concessions/Bob's Cycle shop/2 42" plasmas, and in the center, was the front desk. You sign up and pay your membership and they take your picture and print out a membership card right then and there. Pretty sweet. Then we go out and walk the track and it was a very good track layout. Lots of different obstacles including doubles/triples/whoops/step on step off/rollers/tabletop. Great dirt also, just a few too many rocks, but that will go away with time I would imagine. About 1:15 minute lap times I would guess. The track is eight lanes wide the one direction and about 350' the other way. Very good size track for being indoors. It is definitely tight, but not too tight, should make for some great racing. They also had tough blocks almost everywhere and they have more waiting for covers. They use a lighting system for flags, which works well and you can have one good flagger running the lights instead of a bunch of morons that dont pay attention. It was a very fun day of riding and I hope this place does well so they can stick around. Very cool facility. I would highly recommend everyone go check it out.

This is awesome to hear. Did you ride big bike or pit bike?

I rode big bike. They have a mini track in there as well. It i sreally small though, mostly for kids on 50cc. might be fun on a pit bike, but the big track would def be a blast on little bikes if you are into jumping.

That looks cool. Have you ever been to the track at Elko...I know the season is almost over, but I was looking to go there a few times next year.

from what i have heard, Elko will no longer exist after this year. It is too bad, bc that is a great track for pit bikes and big bikes and very close!

Have you rode the pitbike track out there? I no longer own any big bikes, just fiftys.

i have not rode the pit bike track at Elko, but it looks awesome. Also they have a bunch of events for pit bikes. Hopefully this new place will make a pit bike series or something, that would be sweet.

I have some friends with land down in Jordan, and I ride in my so called yard here and there, but would love to actually ride a track..anyplace down in Northfield? I used to live in Farmington, where we had 10 acres, but that was a while ago.

Re: MN, IA, WI, midwest riders...listen up...Sandbox arena

really? I grew up in farmington. How old are you? NO, there is no place to ride in Northfield. My buddy has a place in Elko, but it needs some work. I t is kind of fun right now, but needs a dozer to build it up. Otherwise we just ride @ meadow valley or the local races. i race up north alot like @ Staples and Little Falls and Mora. Just big bikes though. My mini has lost my interest. I am building a stocker for my nephews, but that is all right now. The engine in my mini is sold and the rest is basically sold also. I may buy an X4 this spring, but I am having a baby also, so I am trying to watch what I spend.

I am 36, me and my wife bought the fiftys to ride while the kids are home, since we can't ride our sportbikes. The kids are getting into them also, but after buying them, I started buying parts for mine. Brought me back to when I had 125's and stuff, and now I want to go race it...just need to get better suspension front and rear for what I want to do. How old are you?

I am 24. I thought I might know you since you were from Farmington, but you are a few years older than me. If you want to race, this place will be very fun if they do a pit bike race.

Re: MN, IA, WI, midwest riders...listen up...Sandbox arena

So how much is it per person to ride there for a day.... I read something like $50.00 with all the memberships and stuff. I've ridden my X4 at Elko, not to race, but there practice track, but mainly ride at the mini track at MeadowValley. I wished Mazeppa or someone would build a mini track, we need some variety.

It looks like it could be expensive, but then again, when there is snow on the ground, I wouldn't mind paying the price to ride there. I just need to upgrade my suspension first, soon as that happens, I am going to check that place out.

Re: MN, IA, WI, midwest riders...listen up...Sandbox arena

It Isnt That Bad Really. You Have To Sign Up For Their Membership Which Is 50 Annually Or 10 Daily And Then You Have To Be A Rider Network Cardholder. Which Is 35 Annualy Or 10 Daily, But If You Rode @ Mazeppa Or Kellogg, You Probably Already Have One. And The Practice Fee Is 30 For Each Session Which Is 7 Hours On Saturday And Sunday And I Bet When I Was There I Put In About 80-100 Laps In 6 Hours, So It Was A Lot Of Riding. The Racing Is 30 A Class And 10 To Get In. So It Isnt Any More Expensive Than Any Other Track Really. I Dont Mind Paying A Little Extra If They Do A Good Job And Make It Fun, Which This Place Is Really Nice So It Would Be Great To See Them Be Profitalbe And Stick Around.

Thats cool, that price isn't bad at all. It says on the site they have sessions from 10-4 and 4-10pm, is that free riding (practice?)
