Noob from MD Hi everyone... just joined this site after a close friend suggested you guys since i kinda jacked up chrismtas plans for myself. lol anyways, oldschoolimport referred me... said you all would be able to help me get back on track.... little background my 13 yr old 135lb 5'5'' son is growing a little big for his 03 xr 70r he got 2 years ago for christmas. his cousin has a 100 cc honda and he is itchin to get something that "can smoke mark's bike". so i found a great deal on ebay for a 100cc honda motor. 170 shipped... KILLER DEAL! i overslept on my short nap on the couch and missed the end. so i need either a 100cc honda (preferred, but not necessary) or a 88cc bore kit for his "slow" 72cc honda. we cannot afford a new or used bike for him, so we gotta work with what we have...but i am on a budget. lol or if anyone has any suggestions, by all means post them up... i am new to all this. i didnt know there was even a forum for this stuff! this is great. i am going to learn alot on here.

Re: Noob from MD wassup wes!! thanks for referring me here, i love this site! i have ALOT to learn from everyone on here. ahp - i am interested in your oil pump kit. i will be purchasing that soon from you. i found a 88 bore kit for his 70, but i am just waiting on a reply back to verify that it will work. its listed for a 50 but i want to hear from them that it will work. lol i have been screwed on ebay before - i dont want that to happen again. there are more parts i need, but the money is quickly running out, so i will have to wait to replenish before getting more. lol

Update! well we got our son a lifan 140cc motor we got online for a great price. it came with everything we needed for the swap onto his xr70. we are new to bikes... our first love are our import cars. we got the new motor on today and oldschoolimport from here has been SUPER helpful with our lifeline style questions. lol here are some pics. its not operational yet, we have to get a few things before we can start her up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Noob from MD yeah no kidding! from what.... 5hp to about 14hp!! he has a full chest and back plate so i told him he doesnt sit on that bike without them on - and a helmet. lol we made him do alot of the work on the swap. we did all the wiring but he did alot of the wrenching. kids are so quick to take stuff apart, but its another thing to take something apart and then put it back together again and make it WORK. we still need more parts too, he need a rear innertube, tire, rear brake pedal (we are going to bend his for now just to have something) a skidplate, and new pegs. his oem pegs are no where near long enough to clear both sides of this 140. in the future he wants to buy an exhaust for it (already picked a few out) and an extended swingarm. we ran outta money and only got the motor and that rear shock in the pics... everything else is gonna have to come later.

| Re: Noob from MD hey bro, i live up in columbia md and have alot of parts that are new untouched left over, one of them is a larger pegmount that you need that is slightly used, used for a few rides, its beefed up chromoly for the larger adult riders who jump so its strong enough for anything. i also got spare black plastics slightly used, i got a bigger throttle assembly than that of the stock xr 70, let me know what else you need. i am pretty informative on these minis and can offer any help to a local as well. good luck. one thing if i can recomend off the bat, drain the oil out of the lifan right away and replace with a better grade motorcycle oil. i like to use honda gn4. also keep up on the valve clearence checks. these import china motors require a little more attention than your typical japanese imports. but when taken care of they will preform really well. also when sitting over night its common for the clutch not to snag when engaged causing the bike to creep when in gear, or the bike to jump forward while the clutch is in. therea splash oil lubracation setup so that one reason. a good remedy is to let it wam up and circulate oil for a few minutes, or before you start the bike put it in gear and pull the clucth in and rock the bike back and fourth until it grabs and moves freely without the rear wheel dragging. yea the pegmount & rear innertube are immediate necessities. lol can anyone direct me to a good place to get them? and yeah...no boulders around here, mostly just dirt and alot of brush. lol the shock is a nitrogen charged "coilover" i guess you would call it? (going off my auto knowledge here, so bear with me). its adjustable in height or i guess it would be riding quality in reference to a dirtbike. its from prowheel... after buying it i think its an off market company... but it seems like a good one. oh wow i am such a noob. lol | |

oh wow i am taking all this in... lol first off, heck yea, send me a pic of that pegmount. i also am in need of a rear innertube, tire, front brake w/ some life on it (his is DEAD - hence why the rear brake pedal is so important right now... or he better jump) the plastics i dont think will fit from a 50 to a 70 (at least thats what i was told from a vendor) we bought a fully synthetic oil for it... mobil 1 racing 4T 10w-40 (4 cycle) is this a good one? it dam well should be, it was like $8 for 1 quart! i put royal purple in my car, and this was a dollar more! oh and i had a concern about the filter on the carb. its a "dry" intake... w/ a sponge type cover on it but it wont do much to keep the wet stuff off the filter... should i oil treat the filter or leave it alone? sorry for the noobish questions... but i feel bad asking wes this all the time (oldschoolimport) he's my good friend, i dont wanna loose that becuase i am driving him nuts. lol any other tips for us guys/gals?
